Chapter 19 – I need to learn to multitask

The next day after school I knocked on Colin’s door, he looked pretty grumpy when he opened the door and saw me standing there, he’d probably been napping or something. Without saying a word I pushed my way through and he closed the door behind me.

“So what’d you find out about Teresa?” I asked him eagerly.

“Calm the fuck down,” Colin said to me leaning against the door.

“Well I’m on a need to know basis right now, if the roles were reversed I’d do the same for you,” I said smugly crossing my arms one over the other.

He sighed knowing that I was right. “Well last night while you were at work Summer and Teresa both came over,” Colin said.

I felt like crying right then. “What?”

“We went hot tubbing with them hung out a little, nothing happened but Ashton seems really attached to her,” Colin said. I could see how sad he was for having to tell me this. This was probably the only brotherly sister moment we were ever going to have where he actually cared about my feelings.

“Then what?” I choked back a sob.

“Well I asked him about it after they left and before he went and got you…” Colin trailed off.

“Okay…”

“He told me that when he moved to her school they became best friends, and then when he was fourteen he started to like her as more than a friend. It wasn’t until she was fifteen and he was sixteen that she started leading him on, basically turned him into her bitch and he would do anything for her.”

“He told you all that?” I asked him.

“Not really,” Colin said scrunching his nose up. “But the way he talked about her that’s definitely what it sounded like.”

“Oh,” I said.

“Also she cheated on him but he forgives her,” Colin added.

“What a little slut,” I commented. I can’t believe that Ashton would fall for something as stupid as that. She cheated on him and then he forgives her just like that.

There was a knock at the door. Colin was still leaning on the door so he turned around and pulled it open. Ashton was standing there.

Speak of the devil.

“What’re you guys chatting about?” he asked looking very suspicious. Had he heard our entire conversation? Was there something else I didn’t know? And did I want to know?

“Tonight’s plans,” Colin covered up for both of us.

“What’re you guys doing?”

“Just asked Alex what Sarah’s favorite movies are so when I hang out with her tonight we can watch one of her favorite movies,” Colin explained.

Ashton nodded then looked over at me waiting to see what I was going to say. “I’m going to eat Nutella and watch episodes of Lost,” I told him.

“Your parents are running to the doctor’s office so your mom can get blood tests done and Luke went with them so I guess it’s just you and me tonight, Alex,” Ashton said with a smile. “And don’t worry we can still watch Lost episodes I don’t mind.”

I ignored Ashton. “I’ll grab the movies for you,” I told Colin because I knew he had no idea which ones they actually were. I grabbed all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and found Colin downstairs getting ready to leave. I handed him the movies and he headed out the door telling us he’d be home later tonight.
