Chapter 6 – Stop staring at him, you’re freaking me out
I had managed to stay in my room for a few hours, until I got really hungry, then I couldn’t stand it any longer and headed downstairs. Obviously Summer is too stupid to figure out it was me. My family and Ashton were about to sit down for supper just as I walked into the kitchen.
“Where have you been?” Mom asked me as I took my seat.
“In my room,” I told her.
“I thought you had gone to one of your friends houses?” she asked questioningly.
“No,” I said.
It was silent for a minute while everyone filled their plates with roast beef, potatoes, and corn one of my mom’s famous suppers in this house. Of course everything she makes is delicious; she does own a restaurant after all.
“So how’s your first day of school go, Ashton?” Mom asked politely.
Ashton looked over at me and I raised an eyebrow silently asking him if he was going to tell the truth. “Good,” he said.
“How’d you get home so fast after school?” Colin asked him.
“Caught a ride from someone,” Ashton lied and I raised an eye brow at him. Ashton just shrugged.
“And Alex?” Mom asked looking over at me.
“Oh, um… good,” I mumbled. My mom frowned, she hates when I mumble.
Ashton smirked raising an eye brow at me; I just glared back at him.
My family sat down to eat and my eyes snapped over to Ashton’s automatically. I had no idea why, I just kind of enjoyed looking at him and I’m pretty sure he knew it. I can’t help that he’s insanely good looking, actually taller than me, and has a great body. Plus every time I look in his eyes my heart melts just a little, they’re the color of blue that only happens when the sky is clear and the moon is lighting up just enough that it creates a beautiful midnight blue. What person in their right mind wouldn’t think his eyes were absolutely amazing?
“Alex?” Colin’s hand waved in front of my face and I snapped out of my trance. I hadn’t realized that I had been staring at him for at least five minutes. He was just grinning with amusement and my hand found the pot of potatoes.
“Stop staring at him, you’re freaking me out!” Luke said. I looked over at my little brother, he was only seven and he was already turning into Colin.
Colin raised his hand and everyone looked over at him. “Might I suggest that you lock Alex’s room at night so she doesn’t sneak into Ashton’s room at night,” Colin suggested looking between everyone. “Or you could lock Ashton’s, that works too,” Colin shrugged.
I frowned at everyone but refused to meet Ashton’s beautiful captivating eyes. “Mommy, Daddy, I don’t think you have to lock Ashton’s door. Girls are gross and Ashton already told me that they have cooties so I don’t think he’ll being going into her room anyway.”
Everyone looked over at Luke and burst out laughing. The kid was adorable I’ll give him that. Luke looked around at everyone confusion clear in his eyes. “I love you little bro!” Colin said ruffling his hair.
The next morning at school I found my friends telling them all about what happened at supper last night. Then I proceeded to tell them both about how I scratched up Summer’s car. Sarah and Grace then told me that I should probably ditch my family, move to Indonesia change my name to Bertha Blaberson and die my hair brown, if I wanted to get out of this alive.
