"The history of the Warriors?" I had never heard of that book before. I knew only what I had heard from the villagers in my camp about the Element warrior history. He handed me the book.
"I thought maybe you could find out more about your powers."
"Thank you, Chris! This is amazing." I could smell the old book smell as I flipped through the pages. I sat down in one of the big chairs by the window and slipped my shoes off. I tucked my feet up under my bottom and opened the book. Chris's chuckled ripped me from my excitement when I realized where I was... I quickly stood up and put my shoes back on.
"I am so sorry... that was un-lady like, I apol_"
Chris approached me holding a book, "No, don't apologize. It was very cute." My face was already red. "please, make yourself comfortable." He motioned at the chair I was sitting in. I slipped my shoes off again and climbed back into the chair.
Chris sat opposite of me and crossed his leg resting his book on his knee. He smiled at me; his face powdered with a little bit of red on his cheeks before returning his gaze to his book.
I opened the book and began to read it. I read the stories of the first Element Warriors. Back then, the Element warriors live in peace. They would use their powers to help the villagers and kingdom. That was, until one of the Element warriors killed the Queen. After that, the Kingdom split into two, people who feared the warrior and people who believed they were still good. It stayed this way for centuries, no Rulers had been able to restore the peace between the two kingdoms but, they live in harmony as two separate kingdoms. Until Victor Cunningham took control of the Ash Relm. It talked about the slaughtering of element warriors and the fear he evoked into the people, most of which were lies about the powers of the warriors. King Tyren Hamilton provided a safe place for the warriors in the Silver Relm.
That must have been Byrons father, I glanced up at Christopher who was focused on his book. I turned my attention back to the story. The two Kingdoms had been fighting for power since then, there is a prophecy that says a King and Warrior Queen will unite the two Kingdoms again. I flipped to the History of the Air Warrior. It talked about the first Air Warrior Elija Woodlock, he was said to have been gifted his powers from the dragons. He was a powerful Air warrior who had a white dragon that he named Polar. I smiled slightly. A dragon? He was a monk who practiced meditation. I read more about his life. There where picture of figures preforming different moves. I traced my fingers along the bodies engraving them into my mind. Could I do these too?
"Christopher? Are you in here?" I turned my attention towards the voice as it grew louder. The King! I jumped to my feet, fumbling to get my shoes on. I dropped into a curtsey but tripped stumbling. A pair of strong arms steadied me. I got my balance and brushed the wrinkles for my dress.
"Sorry your majesty." I looked at him embarrassed as my face turned so red that I could feel the heat coming off me. I realized Christophers hand was still on the small of my back.
"No, please. As you were Miss Skylar. I was only wondering where my son had run off too but... I can see he is in great company." He smiled as he stared at his son's arm that was still hold on to me.
He slowly tucked in behind him and spoke. "Hello father" He nodded; I could see his face was a little red as well. "Did you need me for something?"
"I was going to see if maybe you wanted to take a ride with Claire and I, we haven't ridden in a long time together and the weather is beautiful out but, if you are busy... perhaps another time." He arched his eyebrow making it seem like more of a question. Christopher looked down at me.
"You should go, thank you for letting me read this." I handed it back to him with a soft smile. "Have a goodnight, Chris_ I mean, your majesty." I curtsied and then did the same for the King leaving them alone. I headed back to my room and decided to call it an early night.
