I got off the horse, Davids's limp body started to fall. I quickly grabbed him, stumbling backwards falling as his body landed on me. I groaned as my head hit the wall. I slid David off of me, turning him on his side. I checked his wound and then listened to his breathing. I think he just passed out from loss of blood... he needs a doctor. I sat down beside him, watching him breathe. I was startled by a low growl. My eyes shot towards the back of the cave; the horse took off running into the night. I stood quickly trying to grab it before it got away.

I couldn't see how far the cave went back, I turned squinting my eyes trying to see what back there. The sun was setting and there wasn't a lot of light shining into the cave. I walked past David and felt a hot wind blow towards me. I stopped; my hands were sweaty. I saw a large shadow coming towards us, I shot a gust of wind towards it hoping to scare it away. I was stunned when the shadow stepped into the light. I stumbled backwards falling on my ass. I let out a gasp as I stared at the creature in front of me.

It was a dragon... I thought that they were extinct. My breathing speed up as the dragon stepped towards me. It was beautiful. Its scales were silver and glistened in the sun. It was large, barley fitting into the tall cave. I got to my feet. I knew that I should be terrified but... I wasn't.

I tilted my head and looked at it curiously as I stepped towards it. The dragon took a step back and then leaned its large head down towards me. It had large, violet eyes just like me. "I'm not going to hurt you." I whispered, looking up at it. My breath got caught in my throat when I heard a smoothing, deep, male voice in my head.

"I know, young Air Warrior."

"I_I can hear you in my head. You can understand me?" I said confused.

"Yes. My name is Kilo. You and I are connected by destiny. The dragons and Air Warriors have always had a strong connection. When my kind were hunted and murdered by the King, the Air Warriors became scares as well. I am the last of my kind. I was forced to go into hiding... waiting for the eggs of my species to hatch."

"Eggs?" I questioned as his hot breath hit me.

"Dragon eggs hatch when they are ready, sometimes it is a year and other times decades."

"Why can I hear you?" He nudged me with his snout, and I looked down at the dragon tooth around my neck. I touched it gently. "It was my fathers." I said softly.

"It was a gift given to your grandfather. When King Victor senior ruled, he slaughtered the dragons. Hunting us down until one I remained. Your grandfather helped me escape, saving me. As a thank you, I gave him a golden tooth gifting him the gift of communication with me. He past it down to your father who, past it to you." My eyes filled with tears as I heard him talk about my father. I reached my hand out and gently touched his face. I jumped when I heard David groan in pain. I turned my attention toward his body that was shaking slightly.

"He needs a doctor. Please Kilo... we need to get to the castle." I pleaded to him. He let out a puff of air.

"I am sorry Young Warrior... I have to stay and protect the eggs." He bowed his head closing his eyes.

"Please..." My voice was desperate and cracked as I pleaded. "I will stay and protect them until you return."

His eyes opened and staring into my eyes. My eyes pleading with him to help him.

"Very well. I will take him to the castle. Protect the eggs with your life, my bloodline is in your hands now young warrior." He fell to the ground, lowing his head allowing me to push David onto his back. He took flight, flapping his large wings. He flew high above the tree and headed towards the castle disappearing into the distance. I walked deep into the cave finally reaching the nest of eggs. I sat down, waiting for Kilo to return.

*Christophers POV*

It had been days since David and Skylar had been captured. I felt my heartbreaking more and more everyday she was away. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I just kept thinking of what they were doing to them. I snapped back to reality when I heard the screaming and yelling of people outside. I ran from the stables, searching the grounds trying to find where the screams were coming from. That's when I saw it... A dragon.

Its large body swooped down towards the castle walls. My men rushed towards me with their swords pointed towards the creature flying towards up. I'd never seen a dragon other than in the books. They were supposed to be extinct. Its large wings flapped in the wind causing the wind and dust to hit out face. It landed a few feet from us with a loud thud, shaking the ground beneath us. My guards inched towards it, swords and torches pointed at it. It let out a growl and narrowed its eyes... they were violet, they looked like Sky's. It let out another growl, revealing its sharp teeth.

"Wait! Put your swords down!" I shouted to my men, they all turned towards me giving me confused looks. I walked past them, towards the dragon. It back away slowly. "They won't hurt you." I said, soothing the dragon. My men holstered their swords as they backed away. The dragon dropped down, lowing its head revealing the beaten man on its back. "David?!" I ran toward him and had my men help me get him down. They rushed him to the infirmary.

Fear grew inside of me as I saw his beaten face... Where was Sky? I felt the wind from the dragons' wings hit my back as I turned around watching it take off into the night.
