Wei Wuxian gradually adjusted to his new life in the palace. He was never interested in politics and so didn't attend the Court like Jin Guangyao did. He couldn't travel outside for the time being since he hasn't completed 3 months of his marriage even. So, he focussed on his Cultivation with Suibian. Lan Wangji only attended Court once or twice in a fortnight as well.

Wei Wuxian, of course knew the reason.

Gossips and rumours are especially loud in rich families. He has often heard the maids whispering how the Emperor is now favouring the Second Prince for the throne since he has an Omega, a rare, male Omega at that. 

Thus, Lan Wangji purposefully stayed away from the Court, giving Lan Xichen the opportunity to shine.

There are whispers about the growing distance between the two Prince as well..... 

Then, there are whispers about how the First Prince should accept Lady Qin's hand for marriage or maybe consider Lady Wen....

Wei Wuxian calmly ignores them in the day, going about his way, but in his heart he is also worried. A kingdom with only an Emperor, and no Empress or Crown Prince to rule is not a stable one. Once a natural disaster befalls the people, the blame will automatically go to the Emperor's ill deeds.

So during the night he tries to talk to Lan Wangji.

"Lan Zhan," Wei Wuxian called out as Lan Wangji hugged him from behind as they two settled on the bed.

"Mn?" Lan Wangji asked kissing Wei Wuxian's nape.

The two, in the span of one month have grown a lot closer. Not physically per se, but they have become quite comfortable with small touches and kisses on the forehead, cheek or neck. Somehow, the duo is hesitating to take the final step in their intimacy but there was no rush after all....

"Huang Fu looked worried about the matter of the Heir to the throne today," Wei Wuxian said, still nervous. He had attended the Court today, which he did very, very rarely but did today since Jiang Fengmian was in the capital.

Jiang Fengmian, Wen Ruohan and Jin Guangshan only reported directly to the Emperor once in a fortnight and their ministry handled everything else. So, he visited his adopted father today, when he was in Gusu.

Lan Wangji tensed behind Wei Wuxian's body before snuggling closer to the warm body beside him.

"Wei Ying need not worry about that," he simply said.

Wei Wuxian frowned and turned in Lan Wangji's arms facing him.

"How can I not? This concerns our family, Lan Zhan. Will you tell me what are you thinking about the matter?" Wei Wuxian asked.

Lan Wangji met Wei Wuxian's earnest eyes before sighing deeply.

"Fuqin wants me to become the Huang Taizi....once we have a ....child," he explained awkwardly. Wei Wuxian abruptly blushed and squirmed in his arms awkwardly.

"So? What have you thought? Did you talk to Xichen-Ge?" He asked after a moment.

Lan Wangji nodded.

"I asked Xiongzhang to consider taking Lady Wen as his concubine to appease Fuqin but he got angry," Lan Wangji explained, voice low.

Ah. That explains the rumours about the two Prince being distant then.

"Xichen-Ge loves Yao-Ge so much. He isn't willing to disrespect their relationship," Wei Wuxian mused.

"Mn," Lan Wangji said stroking Wei Wuxian's back silently.
