Lan Wangji knocked at Lan Xichen's quarters.
"Wangji? What happened? Is it Wuxian?" Lan Xichen immediately asked. Jin Guangyao appeared behind him, his face expressionless.
"Mn. Wei Ying woke up. Xiongzhang please help me inform Fuqin," Lan Wangji said, a bit hopeful.
Lan Xichen stared disapprovingly.
"Wangji, you have to talk with Fuqin and apologise. What you said....that day is a crime against Huangshang. Of course you will face punishment, but atleast apologise first," he explained, putting a hand on his shoulder.
Lan Wangji but his lips subtly, hesitating. His relationship with his father was distant. When he was young it was usually his Uncle he admired and stuck to. As he grew up, Lan Xichen silently became the mediator between the father and the youngest son.
Lan Xichen was not as affected as Lan Wangji was when their mother, Shen Meili died.
"Xiongzhang....just this once," he said, averting his gaze.
Lan Xichen couldn't help but smile. His little brother still needs him, after all.
He shook his head fondly.
"Alright, Didi. You must explain properly after we return, okay?" He said.
"Wangji understands," Lan Wangji muttered.
....
"Jiang Cheng....Ahh... Where is he? Aiyah, Wen Qing, how could you..." Wei Wuxian sighed after Wen Qing's slightly gruesome explanation.
Wen Qing stayed silent.
"And Lan Zhan? Was he.... Was he here?" Wei Wuxian asked.
"No. He stood outside. Cried, I guess?" She shrugged and Wei Wuxian gasped, scandalised at her tone.
"Wen-Guniang! My, my! That's Hanguang-Jun you are so casually dismissing you know," he grinned.
"I said what you asked," Wen Qing replied, standing up.
"Wei Wuxian!" Jiang Cheng burst inside the room, hair and clothes dishevelled.
Behind him were Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan.
Jiang Yanli's eyes were red and puffy and Wei Wuxian immediately felt guilty.
"Shijie! I am fine now! See, see..." Wei Wuxian smiled happily, binding a since at the pain caused by moving his arm.
"Oh A-Xian! You worried us," Jiang Yanli sat beside him, clutching his hand.
"Sorry Shijie, I promise I am better now," he said.
Jiang Cheng followed after her, gloomily.
It was clear he was feeling awful.
"Jiang Cheng! Come here! Let me see you properly," Wei Wuxian called. Jiang Cheng scowled but sat beside his sister anyway. His eyes lingered on Wei Wuxian's belly sub-consciously.
Wei Wuxian noticed his empty fingers, devoid of Zidian and felt more guilty.
"Sorry, Jiang Cheng. I made you do something awful, huh?" Wei Wuxian said, lowering his head.
Jiang Cheng's eyes widened and his left fingers immediately went to fiddle with Zidian before he realised he hadn't worn the ring.
"You idiot! Of course, you do that all the time! Do you... Do you know how fucking scared I was that I may hurt my nephew in between that! You better not try this stupid shit ever again!" Jiang Cheng shouted, eyes red.
