"Huangshang, it is time for lunch with the guests," one of the servants informed.
Lan Qingming looked up and nodded, closing his books.
He calmly walked to the main dining room and saw the large table filled with people.
"Lan Junwang," everyone greeted as Lan Qingming bowed towards the other kings in respect.
On one side of the table, the Chen and Su family sat, leaving the opposite side for the Lans and Xues.
The Su Prince and Princess looked bored and unhappy. The Xue family sat with dignity and poise. The Lans sat calmly. The Chens were smiling pleasantly.
"Lan Junwang, many congratulations to your family," Chen Murong, the Emperor smiled, raising his cup, looking at Wei Wuxian.
Lan Qingming smiled and returned the toast.
Meanwhile, Wei Wuxian couldn't believe he was unable to eat seasoned food at all! Of course, Lan Wangji had already banned Wei Wuxian's natural level of spiciness in his food. However, he could to eat tender, seasoned meat to his full only yesterday, two days since the surprise news was announced.
However now, he feels like puking, watching the perfectly diced slices of pork and the hot garlic soup. Lan Wangji, beside him was eating his usual bland food, stewed fish(also bland) and lots of greens.
The conversation at the table was loud and amiable. So, Wei Wuxian leaned towards his husband pouting.
"Lan-er-gege! I feel like puking as soon as I smell this! Let me eat from yours, otherwise!" Wei Wuxian said, stunning Lan Wangji a bit.
Wei Wuxian openly detested Lan Wangji's choice of food since day one! Now, he wants a taste?
But Lan Wangji rarely denied his Omega. So he nodded and picked up the fish, deboning it, before feeding it to Wei Wuxian.
Wei Wuxian hesitated before chewing and swallowing it. He blinked. Not.....bad, per say?
Wei Wuxian signalled Lan Wangji to continue feeding him and Lan Wangji obliged. The people in the table were also observing them with open curiosity.
No matter how jealous Alphas are of Lan Wangji or how envious Omegas are of Wei Wuxian, few would deny that they looked heavenly together.
Chen Muchen was the First Prince of his Kingdom and an Alpha as well and had a younger Omega sister, Chen Lili. Both of them, knew Lan Wangji.
They were no less surprised seeing that frosty man's cold exterior break. Chen Lili had initially liked Lan Wangji for his attractive face and dominating aura. They met when he was on a diplomatic mission to the Chen Empire.
She even wanted to propose to him but his open distaste for Omegas stopped her. Imagine her surprise, when he married one!
She looked down at her food, munching on it absent-mindedly.
What's happened is happened! There is no use crying over spilt milk, is there?
"Lan-er-gege, I can't believe our baby takes after you when it's obviously me carrying him!" Wei Wuxian whispered, pouting.
Lan Wangji smiled and lifted a beanstalk to his mouth in apology.
"I am glad my nephew is well cared for, Hanguang-Jun," Xue Changshi suddenly said.
"It's my pleasure, Xue Junwang," Lan Wangji replied serenely.
"Yes. And I hope, Hanguang-Jun and Wuxian can visit our humble abode sometime in the future. I am sure he would like to know the place where his mother grew up," Xue Changshi said, a bittersweet emotion on his face.
