"I'm telling you Sara. There is someone out there!" Fern was convinced that this guy was likely to know where everyone was.

"It was probably just Sam," Sara responded.

"It wasn't!"

"Fine! What do you want me to do. Go say hi?" Sara said, looking at her now.

"Maybe we can figure out where everyone is."

"Your hurt though."

"Not alot. I can walk. Besides, it would help to get outside anyways." Fern didnt know if this was true, but it sounded true enough for Sara.

"Fine. But only for a second." She sighed.

"Do you see anything?" Fern asked hopefully as Sara opened the door.

"Nope."

"Let's circle around the house." Fern and Sara both slowly walked out into the cold, dark night. Fern shined her light around. Nothing. "Let's go this way," Fern said pointing towards the side of the cabin. "As long as its quick." Sara complained, clearly just wanting to get back to where it was warm. They slowly started walking towards the corner to the cabin. "Fern, look!" Sara said suddenly. Fern turned and looked at where she was pointing, and saw them. Footprints!

"You think there Sams?" Fern asked as she got on her knees to investigate them closer.

"Maybe, but they look weird. Not quite look the boots Sam has." Sara replied. Fern understood what she meant by the prints looking weird. They almost didnt look like shoe prints. They continued to follow the footprints around the cabin until they reached another corner. Suddenly, they heard something that made them stop. "I can hear something on the other side!" Sara whispered. She was right! Fern thought. There WAS someone. They heard snow crunching on the other end of the corner. Fern edged over to the corner and peaked out. A dark figure was on the other side. Fern looked up at the moon. Why couldn't it be full? He kept walking closer and closer. It was too late to back away now. Fern took a step backward, pulled the pistol out of her jacket pocket, and pointed it at the corner. She pulled the firing pin backward and prepared to shoot as the figure stepped into range.

Now!

Fern almost pulled the trigger before she recognized Sams jacket. "What the heck yall!?" Sam jumped. "What are yall doing out here!?"

"Fern said she saw someone. I told her it was just you, but she insisted it wasn't." Sara said.

Sam looked right at Fern with a face. Fern couldn't exactly read it in the dark, but it seemed important. "You saw someone?" He asked.

"I mean, I thought I did." Fern studdered. She didnt want to worry Sara. Sam seemed to understand as he glanced at Sara. "Alright. Let's get back inside. My flashlight died." Sam said, holding up the useless object.

Once they were all inside, Sam started putting some of the sticks he found outside onto the fireplace. As they sat around, feeling the heat radiate onto their faces, Fern remembered everything that had happened the past days. It felt as if it was all a movie. One minute they're playing in the snow like children, and the next, they're having gunfights in the town square.

"Fern," Sara said, bringing Fern back to the present.

"Yes?" She replied.

"What if this never ends? What if we never see them again?" Fern understood what 'them' meant.

"Dont worry. Im sure everything's going to be alright." Fern replied. Suddenly, Sara started crying. Fern wrapped her arms around her and hugged her. Sara buried her face into Ferns' shoulder.

"I just want everything to go back to normal."
