Fern awoke to find herself laying in a white hospital room, the light above her glowing with the bright luminance that made her head hurt. Where am I at? She thought. Where ever it is, they have power. That's when she remembered what Sara told her before, however long ago that was. Marcus had called for help. A brace was attached around where the pain was from her back, and it hurt ten times worse whenever she tried to move That's when she noticed someone sitting on the chair next to the bed. "Hey, Sara." She said, finding it a bit easier to talk.
"Fern!" Sara almost jumped up, moving right next to the bed. "You're awake!"
"What happened? The last I remember was that night at the fire. when you-"
"Well, shortly after you went out, another helicopter came over, who airlifted us here. It wasn't a long ride, so you didn't miss much." Sara caught her up quickly. The door opened like a woman with a doctor's coat walked in.
"So, she is awake, is she? Hello Fern, my name is Docter Danni Madison." She introduced herself, checking some stuff on a laptop that sat next to wear a sink was. "Dont worry, it's not too serious, but you did receive some back injuries from where the bomb sent you into that cliff. Also had some other problems from the explosion, but the back is where its most severe."
"May I have some water?" Fern asked, her throat was dry.
"Of course." Dr. Madison Walked over to where a tiny fridge was located and pulled out a small bottle of water and handed it to Fern, who thanked her. Dr. Madison continued doing something, doctor stuff probably. She wrote some things down on papers, checked numbers on different things, those sort of things when suddenly, Fern saw someone at the door. It was Martin, but someone else was with him. Make that two someone else's, and at that moment Fern wished her back would just let her stand up and run to them, but instead she had to settle for shouting, despite her dry throat and sore lunges. "Mom! Dad!"
