It was a week sence they were found. Nothing was quite normal to say, but it felt like life again. Zack, as well as the people he was with, were still being questioned for shooting Fern. The argument was that they were in a panic due to being suddenly the only ones there. Surprisingly, one of Zacks own friends confirmed that Fern shot in self defense, along with Sara, she wasn't charged. Fern's mom shouted from the kitchen to come down for breakfast. "Coming!"
breakfast was good. "Schools are opening back up today." Her mother told her. Fern was happy to finally have her back home. As she left the house and climbed into the school bus that waited outside, she found a seat in the back where Sara way.
"Hey!" Sara smiled.
"Hi!" Fern sat next to her.
"Kinda boring now isn't it?" Sara joked, offering Fern a peppermint.
"Thanks." Fern replied, returning the favor with a kiss on the forehead. Now that Sara was her girlfriend, It felt like the end of a movie. Like any second now, music would start playing, and the credits would start rolling. They were home, and even though they've been here the whole time, this time it actually felt real. The past week or two was a long one, and something that Fern and Sara wouldn't forget. It felt like they just survived the apocalypse, and now, everything was not just normal, it was better than that. That night Fern decided to write a journal, and she didn't know what to write. So she, started in the beginning, with the smell of pancakes filling her dark bedroom.
