Sara felt like she had been whacked with a hammer. "Fern?" She moaned. "Anyone there?" She forced her eyes open. She was laying on the ground, leaves and mud-covered her skin and clothes. Her whole body pulsed with pain, but her back and head were where most of the pain was at. It took a moment of laying there in the dark to notice she wasn't alone. Sara knew someone else was near. Maybe she heard them while she was asleep or something? Sara's heart began to beat faster.
"Hey, Sara!" A familiar voice whispered.
"Fern!" Sara said, forcing the words out of her chest.
"Shhh! There's someone up there!" Fern whispered, pointing to the top of the cliff.
"How did you guys get down here?" Sara asked softly, trying hard to keep her eyes open.
"The cliff gets less steep farther that way. There was some old vines that we used to climb down." Fern explained.
"Does that actually work?"
"Well, it did."
"Are you hurt?" Sam asked Sara.
"I hurt my back and my head hurts." Sara told them. Her back didn't hurt as long as she stayed still, and didn't move at all.
"We need to move her into the bushes." Sam said.
"I agree. The astronaut dude could come down here any second now." Fern grabbed Sara's shoulders and Sam grabbed her feet, and they began pulling. As soon as they started, Sara wanted them to stop. Each step they made felt more agonizing then the next. They continued pulling her through the bushes until they came to a tiny cave in the cliff. "This seems like a safe place to make shelter. Warm, well hidden, and looks awsome." Fern said. They set Sara down and began talking about what happened the past few hours.
"Why did you leave without telling us?" Fern demanded.
"Look, I caught a glimpse at astronaut man, and I didn't want to risk him getting away.
"You still should have gotten us. You could have died!" Fern sounded like she was about to cry.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Sara felt bad.
"I was worried about you Sara." Fern sobbed. "Your the best person I've ever known."
Sara's eyes began to close.
"I love you."
