As the propellers on the chopper slowed down, a man in an orange vest stepped out and walked over to them. He was tall and looked maybe twenty.
"Are you guys hurt?" He asked as he got closer. He had short blonde hair, and a higher voice than Fern thought he would.
"We-we're fine." Fern studdered. Talking to people made her nervous.
"My name is Martin, I'm part of the Hollyvile search and rescue. Your parents have all been worried." Fern's interest peeked. Our parents are safe!
"You know where our parents are?" Sara asked.
"Yes, they're safe ." The man informed them.
"Where are they?" Sam asked.
"A hotel in Kingswood. About a two-hour drive away from here."
"Why did they leave?"
"Some kid was bragging about finding an old world war two bomb online. He denies finding it, and won't say where it's at." Martin explained. "The town was evacuated in case it was still active, and a bomb squad was sent to search for it." Now it made sense, the astronaut suit guy. He most have been a part of the bomb squad. Does that mean there was more than one?
"You think you can take us to them?" Sara asked.
"That's why I'm here. As soon as we realized there may be some kids lost, we were sent to find y'all." The man replied. "Why don't you guys come with me." He said, turning towards the helicopter.
And then came the explosion.
