"Hey, man, open up!" Michael shouted as he beat on Dominic's front door. "Are you back yet?!"

He got tired of waiting and figured maybe he was out with Mackenzy so he instead took the extra key taped under the mat.

When he opened the door he went into the kitchen first for a snack.

As he microwaved a bag of popcorn, he went to turn on the tv.
But what he saw on the living room floor startled him.

Dominic laid there, his own vomit on his face and the rug, with his eyes wide open.

"D-Dom?" Michael called.

No response.

He walked over to him and nudged him a bit.

"DOM!" Michael yelled.

He began panicking. He didn't know what to do.
He quickly ran out of the apartment.

Mack sat slouching on his couch and watching a movie. He'd gotten undressed and put on a t-shirt and sweatpants to wallow in.

He was still upset but tried his hardest to not think about it.
He didn't understand why Dominic yelled at him the way that he did. It was just a gift...he hadn't meant to upset him.
He looked at his phone as he considered picking it up and calling him.
It had been hours, he thought maybe he should apologize for crossing the established line that Dominic made. He was almost sure Dominic told him in the beginning that gifts weren't allowed. He thought that maybe he really was in the wrong for not respecting Dominic's wishes.

All of a sudden there was banging at his front door.
"MACK!" someone shouted and kept hitting the door. "MACKENZY!"

Mack quickly got up and opened the door.
Michael stood in front of him with tears in his eyes.

"Um...Hey? What's up?" Mack asked.
"You gotta help me! You gotta come with me right now!" Michael stated and grabbed onto Mack's wrist to pull him.
"What?" Mack said in confusion.
"I think...I think Dom's dead..."
Mack's stomach fell.
"You gotta come back! He's on the floor and won't move!"

Mack took a jacket off of his coat rack before the two quickly ran out of Mack's apartment and headed downstairs.

"Did you run all the way here?!" Mack asked as they made it to the parking lot.
"Yes!"

They made it to Mack's truck and hopped in.

"Where is he?" Mack asked as he pulled out of the driveway.
"He's at his place. He won't move. He's just staring up at the ceiling and covered in his own puke."
Mack's chest began to ache.
As Michael spoke, the two drove into traffic.

There was an accident a couple of hundred feet ahead that was stopping every car in its tracks.
Mack looked back to see if he could reverse and take another route but more cars came and blocked him in.

"Come on...!" Mack said in distress.
Unfortunately, his demand didn't make them move.
Michael slouched in his seat as he began to cry.
"My brother's dead..." he whined.
Mack looked at him then back at the traffic.

"Just-...Just stay here." Mack instructed as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
"Where are you going?"
"Stay here!" Mack yelled and got out of the truck.

He walked away from it and through the stopped traffic.
"This is crazy..." he told himself. He stripped his jacket off and began running.

"This is crazy...!" he said again.

He ran as fast as his legs would take him. He dodged through vehicles and ran past the accident.

"THIS IS CRAZY!" he repeated louder each time in disbelief but wouldn't slow down.

"HEY!" One of the cops shouted. "GET BACK HERE!"
"MY BOYFRIEND IS DEAD!" Mack yelled back.

He hoped that wasn't true but he kept running regardless.

"You're okay...when I get there I'm gonna see you and this is just gonna be one big ploy by Michael again. You're gonna be in the kitchen, making fuckin'...I don't know...salmon or whatever rich people eat and you're gonna be fine. This is just a tactic to get us to speak to each other again by Michael, right? Yea." Mack told himself as he kept running.

...

After running for twenty minutes straight, Mack made it to Dominic's complex and ran inside.

He reached the door and slammed it open.
He soon found Dominic laying on the floor just as Michael said he would be.

"No..." he whined as tears came to his eyes.

He quickly pulled out his phone and began dialing.

"HELLO?! HELLO! I NEED AN AMBULANCE! MY BOY-...UMM...MY FRIEND-...HE'S UNRESPONSIVE AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!" he shouted at the operator.
"Okay, sir, calm down. Where are you?"
He began giving them the address and which door as he wet a towel.
"Someone will be there as quickly as possible." she stated.
"O-Okay...thank you." Mack responded.
He was so glad that Dominic didn't live that far from the hospital.

Mack spent the next few minutes cleaning up Dominic as he waited patiently.
"You're...um...y-you're gonna be okay." he stated as he wiped everything up. "You're gonna be p-pissed at me when you find out I left your adopted little brother in a truck on the highway b-but we'll discuss that later." he joked to stay calm.

"P-Please be o-okay..." he begged. "I-I know I y-yelled at you, and I'm s-sorry. I shouldn't have crossed your b-boundaries if you wake up I won't do it ag-gain. I swear, okay? Just come to..." Mack spoke with tears down his face. "I'll leave you alone afterwards, I promise. Just st-stay with me until we can get you to the h-....hospital. That's all...yo-you can...can be done with me f-for good and never have to see me again. I just ne-need you to be ok-kay...please..."

He noticed something on Dominic's nose. A little bit of white powder.

"Wha-..."
He saw something else under the coffee table.
An empty pill bottle.

"Dominic..." Mack called in disappointment. "Fuck...I shouldn't have left you..."

The door was knocked on and Mack got up to answer it.
