POV - Itachi:

The interrupter had a ladylike figure. I stared intensely at her, studying her physique. Her right upper arm had a fire tattoo on it. She had long auburn hair.

Instantly, I knew it was her. The girl who had crept into my mind. The one I constantly thought about. The thoughts I had about her were pestering and they wouldn't go away. It was Y/n—the three kekkei genkai user. The girl with the potential to become extremely powerful.

I was lost in thought. Out of words even.

"We meet again, you bastards," she said as she turned around, still holding Han by his collar. She gently lowered him to the ground. She laid him down and dusted his face. Then, instantly, she got back up.

My heart was beating wildly. It didn't stop. It couldn't... This was my second time having this foreign feeling. Stop.. stop. What the hell is going on?

"You have a lot of nerve... Attacking Hidden Mist shinobi again."

"As the Akatsuki, I think we do have a lot of nerve," Kisame replied. If I read his smug expression correctly, he was thinking that his response was clever. He winked at me.

I rolled my eyes.

Y/n was pissed. She wasn't in the mood for any of this. "What happened to the other Hidden Mist shinobi? Why is Han the only one here?" she asked.

POV - Y/n:

Something seemed wrong. Where were the others? They couldn't have died already... I had just seen Team C. How did the Akatsuki find team B so quickly?

"Isn't it obvious," Kisame chuckled, looking at the area around us. He raised out his arms like he was presenting something.

I focused on the area he and Itachi were standing at. I looked closer, catching a glimpse of something terrifying.

Sliced and severed dead bodies lay on the ground all around them. Some were incapacitated and others were missing limbs. Bloody Anbu masks were scattered everywhere. And, it was obvious who did it.

But I didn't want to believe it. It was too much to process.

The blood looked fresh. It was still flowing from the bodies. I was late... By just a few minutes. If I had gotten there sooner, maybe I could've changed their fate. I couldn't help but feel guilty.

I knew this mission could've ended badly, but I hadn't stopped it. I should've stopped it! Why didn't I?!

"You killed them all?" I asked hesitantly.

Itachi nodded. "We need to finish off that Han boy and our job here will be done."

I felt myself tense up. My cheeks felt hotter. But I couldn't think about this. Not now... He just threatened to kill Han. I needed to focus on that.

"Like I'm going to let that happen," I replied sternly, arming myself with five kunai—one in my mouth, two in each of my hands.

Han was too weak right now. And I didn't plan on letting anything happen to him. I wasn't going to mess up like last time. I could beat Itachi and Kisame now.

I don't need Han to save me like he did when Itachi almost captured me. This time, I will protect him.

"You made a grave mistake by coming here," Itachi smirked. He got in an offensive stance. "You do know about your bounty, right?"

Scrunching my eyebrows, I gave him an angry frown. "I don't care about it anymore. I'm done being defined by it. If I'm continuously bound by it, I'll never reach my potential," I replied.
