"Y/n Terumi! You may not leave Kirigakure!" the unofficial Fifth Mizukage, or rather my older sister said.
"Why? The Fourth Mizukage's gone. There's more freedom now. I just want to go explore the outside world. See what the Land of Water is actually like and maybe even go to another land." I crossed my arms, giving her an ugly and somewhat upset-looking frown.
She took a seat at her desk in her soon-to-be office. There were stacks of paperwork, all ready to be filled out. They all blocked me from seeing her face fully.
Mei shook her head. I already knew what she was going to say in response to my request. She always said the same thing. I rehearsed what her response was going to be in my head. "Y/n, you cannot leave the Hidden Mist village ever—"
"Because there's a giant bounty on your head and as soon as you leave the village, you'll be in danger," I interjected. Her eyes widened. "I've gotten so used to this response that I've practically memorized it." I laughed out of pity for myself.
"Looks like you were listening each time I told you. So why do you continuously ask me to leave if you already know my answer?" she asked, sighing.
"I'm persistent so I will keep asking you until I get what I want!" I exclaimed, sounding like a spoiled brat.
"Well then, you'll have to do this for an eternity, because as long as I am Mizukage, you will not be allowed to leave," she said, starting to fill out some of her paperwork. I felt a bit insulted, knowing how little she cared about my request that she would resort to doing paperwork, something she hated doing.
Both my sister and I were stubborn and hot heads. I knew it was a bad idea to argue any further with her because she would not change her answer. And the last time we had a big argument, it did not turn out well. Let's just say I almost melted our house with lava. We both had serious anger issues. "Fine!" I shouted, turning around and storming off, leaving her office. I slammed the door behind me loudly, making sure that everyone else in the building could hear me and feel my rage.
POV - Narrator:
The Mizukage chuckled slightly, knowing that she had been the clear victor in an argument against her younger sister for the first time. But then she began to overanalyze the last word her sister had just said to her. Fine? Used in many arguments... especially marital arguments! Marital arguments are for people who are married! she thought. She was once more reminded of marriage and that her marriage timer was still ticking. Mei's blood began to boil.
"Y/N!!!!!" she shouted, shaking the whole building. The birds outside were frightened by the loud sound.
Y/n, who was already walking home, slowly looked up while noticing the birds and the screeching sound they had heard. She had finally angered her sister enough. "Crap! She's mad- What pushed her over the edge?"
POV - Y/n:
"Y/n, get back here!" Mei, who was about to jump out of her office window, commanded. I froze, my eyes widening. I made a run for it, running as fast as I could. My sister trailed behind me. I was frightened by how fast she was. Almost as fast as a cheetah. As she chased me, I couldn't help but notice our surroundings. Even though everything looked like a blur, the village looked beautiful. For the first time, the people looked happy. Small business owners sat in their shops, smiling and greeting people who passed by. The mist surrounding us felt light, different from the heavy mist we had during the Fourth Mizukage's rule.
Eventually, my sister grew tired and stopped chasing me. I was barely able to outrun her. Without realizing it, I had reached the end of the village. I was standing on a bridge that connected my village to the dark forest. Entering that forest would mean finally experiencing freedom. The bridge was made of firm yellow bamboo and on the forest side, there was a small gate. The gate was made of stone that looked like it needed to be replaced. The sign on top of it said "Kirigakure." Without even looking around, I began to walk to the gate.
"Lady Y/n. What are you doing here?" asked one of the security guards. Hangetsu Hozuki, a jonin I had known since I was a child, was standing in front of me. He was part of the Hozuki clan, so he was able to turn his body into water because he possessed the hydrification kekkei genkai. He was about two years older than me. His hair was naturally white, but he believed it made him look old so he dyed it jet black. A pale complexion and purple eyes were his most prominent features. He was lean and tall.
"Han. I didn't even notice you—" I smiled.
"I need to know why you're here," he said.
"I honestly don't know... I was just running from my sister and I forgot to look behind me." I replied.
"Oh. Are you sure that's the only reason you're actually here?" he asked, squinting his eyes.
"Yes, yes. That's the only reason." I answered.
"Ok, good," he said.
"You're here just in case I try to leave the village, right?" I pouted.
He patted my head, ignoring my question. "There, there. Maybe one day you'll be allowed to leave. But as of right now, the Mizukage wants to protect you."
"Don't pat my head. I am not a child!" I said feistily, smacking his hand away from my head.
"Feisty, are we?" he smirked. The fact that he still treated me like a child even though I was already 18 enraged me.
"You just became a jonin, Lady Y/n. Her highness may let you leave the village when you're a little more experienced," he said, trying to make me feel better. I ignored what he said because I knew that it wasn't true.
"Hangetsu! Stop calling me Lady Y/n. Just call me Y/n." I scolded him.
"You always tell me that but I refuse to remove the honorifics when addressing you," he replied. "You're the sister of Lady Mizukage and a part of the honored Terumi clan. And you naturally possess the most kekkei genkai out of anyone in this village and the shinobi world," he continued.
"And yet I cannot be trusted enough to leave this village," I said, frowning.
"You know... I was thinking how many kekkei genkai your children could have," he said, trying to introduce a new topic so I could stop feeling sad.
"Huh..?"
"Since you have three, if you were to have kids with someone with a different kekkei genkai, your children could have four kekkei genkai," he explained.
"Oh, and what clan's kekkei genkai would you suggest?" I asked playfully, not expecting an answer.
"The Hozuki clan's kekkei genkai." he grinned, knowing what he'd just implied. At first, I didn't understand what he meant... I thought he was simply suggesting that the kekkei genkai of the Hozuki clan was cool but then I realized he might be referring to a specific member of that clan. I blushed, my face turning red like a tomato. He let out a slight chuckle, covering his mouth with his palm.
"Hangetsu!!" I shouted out of embarrassment, punching him in the arm and then running away. Why does he always playfully flirt with me? This is too much to handle! I ran as I screamed internally.
