C40 Because of you

A week quickly passed by. While the Silvesters were glad no evidence was found on their precious Dorris. They were arrogant and proud but a scandal broke their peace. One by one their shady deeds were exposed to the public: smuggling drugs and weapons,human trafficking, bribes, rape and many more. The whole family started panicking especially Dorris.

" Daddy I told you she knows. We should have destroyed her whole family. Now she is out to get us. Am sure it's her, it's her daddy  we must get rid of her!"

" Darling calm down, calm down we will fix this but now you have to calm down and deal with the situation at hand we can't afford to get in another scandal so we will deal with her later" The head of the family comforted his daughter.

" No no no daddy she must die she knows too much and has my Delvis I can't sleep anymore. I love him so much more than anyone in this world why can't he see it. It's all that woman's fault she must die!!" Dorris raised her voice.

Her mother and uncle at the side had terrible expressions on their faces while her father looked at her helplessly.

" Dorris "

" Daddy please "

" Ok ok but calm down and go get some sleep I'll take you to see Delvis very soon"

" Really? "

"Yes. Take her to her room" he told a maid.

"Brother in law! She will be the down fall of this family. I told you not to bring her back but you didn't listen and now look! She provoked them and now we all suffer" the uncle spoke up.

" You don't have to worry. This scandal won't bring us down so easily but it will bring us problems we shouldn't panic now"

Dorris's mother sighed and sat down." You must find out who is finding trouble with us or else we won't be able to guess their intentions. Everyone knows that we have a powerful backer and they wouldn't blindly offend us but this person sees us as farts. We are one of the richest family in City A and scandals like this is not enough to destroy our many years of foundation"

Dorris's father gradually collected his calm and his mind started working again." Yes but the company is facing a lot and the shares have dropped, find out who has been buying them." He looked at his wife's brother with full trust.

" Okay but keep her locked up unless she makes more trouble. I'll go stabalize our Investor and shareholders"with that said he left.

" Wife contact our backer we need their help"
She nodded and headed upstairs.

The man held his forehead with irritation. Dark circles were clearly apparent in his middle aged face. He looked very honest and kind but he was very dark inside. He was someone who used extreme means to reach his motives but such people always had weakness and his was his only spoiled daughter Dorris. He did everything thing she asked of even if it was a crime he had to commit but now he would loose everything because of his daughter and this was only the beginning.

Dorris was fast asleep but she had a very bad dream. She went back to when she was still in high school. She would always look at Delvis secretly just like a girl in love but she also looked out for those who had any thoughts about him.

Then it changed to when they went for an outing as a class and she was caught red handed by one of her best friend trying to frame the class belle who got the attention of everyone around including Delvis. She was angry she wanted to ruin her reputation but she was caught in the act therefore she had to silence that person so she dragged that person and tied her up. The girl begged, cried but nothing worked.

Horror filled her eyes as her own best friend took her life.

Dorris abruptly sat up scared." No I didn't kill you it wasn't me " tears started running down her face. " It wasn't me"

Delvis sat in the private room and looked up when he heard the sound of high heels walking in the room.

" Delvis we meet again" a seductive woman smiled brightly at him." I believe you are responsible for the scandal going on these days care to tell me why you want to meet me?"

" Zara, please take a sit "
She nodded and took a sit and waited for him to explain himself.

Delvis stared at the woman infront of him for a while and suddenly felt like getting close to her. " Your dad gave me a condition and I agreed to it but I want to know the reason of your hatred towards her" he got straight to the point.

" Whose side are you on Delvis?" She asked.

" Is that still a question?"

" It's very simple. Do you remember the scandal that was supressed when you were still in highschool? Your class went for an outing."
He nodded very seriously as he thought about what happened that year.

" The girl that was mercilessly killed in a brutal way that very day was not some stupid suicide as it was reported"

" You mean..." Delvis's hand shook.

" Yes she was raped and killed by none other than Dorris " she spoke so calmly as if what she said was just a small matter.

"Why?" Delvis was no more calm.

" Because of you"

" She was a victim of that psychos mind. She caught her trying to frame your class belle and to silence her she killed her and all this was because some girl liked you."

" You tell me Delvis why do you think she went abroad for? Further education? Does this country lack schools? It was to stay low and avoid suspicion and all this was arranged by her father."

Delvis felt his heart tighten.

"She ruined my family and I won't stop at nothing until I make her pay for it. The girl was her best friend but look how cruel she was to her"

" Don't worry I don't blame you after all you cannot change what someone feels for you but you also can't not do anything about it but after what you did I'll consider it as a favour."

" I .. I am sorry."

" I forgive you"

Delvis suddenly got up and hugged her tightly. Zara didn't struggle and just let him be.

"Who was she to you?" He still asked although he knew the answer.

" My, my sister" she immediately broke down into tears as she recalled the memories of her sister. " She was so young you know so so..." She hugged him back and continued crying. In the silent room only the whimpers of a woman was heard she released all her feelings. Venting it all on Delvis.

Delvis felt pain in his heart looking at the woman in his arms. He silently swore to keep her happy after this. " Zara I'll be with you in this and I'll protect you even if it means hurting myself"

She looked into his eyes that seemed to be pulling her into a trance. " This will be the last time I see you cry because my heart aches for you. I don't how or when I started feeling this way but I just want you to be happy. So I'll help you until the end"

With that said Delvis captured her lips in a soft, comforting kiss.
