C46 Cruel

She walked forward and hugged him. Vance wrapped his hands possessively around her waist and pulled her closer locked in his embrace. She smelt his scent and felt at peace.

Holding her, his eyes overflowed with pampering. A small smile formed on his lips. He was clearly possessive but he couldn't bear to force her. He lifted her and walked to the bedroom. She wrapped her hands around his neck and nestled on him.

He eagerly traced her lips and tasted her. His hands felt hot on her waist. He sat on the bed and she sat on top of him. The kiss deepened and became more intense. Ivy led her hands under his shirt and touched his abs. Vance stiffened at her touch and ended the kiss." Ivy"

" Mm"

" You are playing with fire"
She simply laughed and became obedient. Vance held her for a while then with a low voice he told her shower and get changed before he walked out.

She freshened up and wore the clothes he prepared for her. Surprisingly it fit just right.

Opening the door, what greeted her sight was Vance in the kitchen. His sleeves were rolled up and his buttons were loose revealing his define neck. He had a serious face that made him all the more attractive. He was currently stir frying something. The whole room was engulfed by the aroma of food which smelt good and appetizeing.

Hearing movements he looked at her and smiled. That smile sent butterflies to her tummy. She walked over and sat on the chair.

" Vancy!"

" Yes?"

" Vancy" she called again.

" Yes?"

" When is food ready? I am hungry"

Helpless. He gave her chocolate." Eat this first, food is almost ready. Just wait a while" he said gently.

" Hurry"

" Yes madam"

She ate the chocolate with puffed cheeks while staring at him.

" What?" He asked.

" You look good"

He chuckled softly," Not as good as you"

She looked away and blushed.

He switched off the stove and brought the food on the table, chicken stew with rice and veg.

" Eat up"

" Mm"
After a taste her eyes lit up." It's good" she praised.

" I am glad you like it" he too felt happy. His expression softened up. Their relationship seemed to have changed completely from that moment.

" What are you going to do about Rose?" He asked her.

" That depends on what she has been involved in and what she is currently up to. I keep getting this weird feeling around her. One thing I am sure of is that she is confident about her plan. Although she doesn't like me she still doesn't break the relation but instead keeps trying to keep me close"

Vance nodded." She needs your presence to succeed in her plan. Her involvement with the man you met earlier is not simple."

" You mean Rodof?"

" Yeah. He is an underground leader and the owner of an assassination organisation. I have been keeping my eyes on him and lately he seems to have made some movements. Be careful"

Ivy was silent for a while and seemed to have thought of something.

" I keep having a feeling that her husband's death isn't simple. Why would she send her son abroad so early in a hurry, it's like she is hiding something"

" You are smart indeed" Vance praised. He stood up, picked up a file and passed it to her.

She took it and read the contents inside. Stunned she looked at Vance who held a spoon delivered to her mouth. She opened her mouth and chewed.

" She wanted her husband to give her power and the right to have a say in company matters. He refused and threatened to divorce her if she didn't stop going against him. When he fell sick she pretended to be a good wife but someone helped her get a doctor to give him a wrong diagnosis. As a result he took the wrong medicine for a whole month and his condition kept getting worse."

" By chance he discovered his wife's plot and confronted her. Sadly that was his last day on earth. To avoid suspicion from her son's she sent the eldest one abroad and raised the other in politics with the help of a good business partner Rodof."

" She sure is cruel" Ivy commented." But I discovered that the person she was supposed to marry was my dad but my mom ended up taking her place"

" Yes, your dad at that time was just a slightly rich man. She is a woman with a big appetite. Cruel and craves for power. Do you think your dad at that time could satisfy her?" Vance assessed.

Ivy came to realisation. " So she pushed my mom to take her place while she got close to the Collins. But she didn't want to leave the Crane family that was slowly progressing and tied it up with a marriage alliance."

" Tsk. My mom was a gentle, kind woman and must have given in to her dear sister."

" Vance, you remember our previous deal right?" She blinked cutely at him.

His actions froze. He touched her cheeks with his hand.

" What do you want? Tell me"

" Help me find my parents. I don't believe they are dead"

" Ok"

" Time to sleep. I'll wash the dishes you go on" he stood up and cleared the table.

" Okay good night"

"Good night Ivy"

Her name sounded nice coming from his lips. Her ears immediately turned red as she ran off to the bedroom.

She could still hear him laughing outside. She got under the blanket embarrassed. She wanted to wait for him but ended up falling asleep.

By the time Vance finished he found her soundly asleep. He switched off the lights and approached her. He stared at her face with strong emotions. He kissed her on the forehead before whispering," I finally found you. This time I won't lose you."

He took out a bracelet from the drawer and put it on her hand.

The sun seeped through the curtains and fell her clear, pure face. Her eyelids tremble and flew open. She glanced on the clock showing 09:12.

She got up and noticed something on her left hand. It was a silver simple bracelet. It had a letter imprinted on it, with a closer look she noticed a small letter V. It looked exactly like the necklace around her neck. Her heart immediately trembled.

She ran out but found no one. She found a note on the table and breakfast.

I have something to do. Eat something. I'll see you later. Vance.

Her heart pounded even more." You fool" she muttered.
