Inside a relatively large room, a young man with dark brown, curly locks shot upright with a loud and strangled gasp. His hands reached up and clasped at his throat as he tried to cat the breath that was denied him.
With red rimmed eyes, Micah looked around the room in confusion. He had no idea how he had managed to get back to Angela's house, especially when he wasn't able to move.
Frowning, Micah looked down at his chest after not feeling any pain, expecting to see his slashed up chest. But there wasn't a single mark on his skin. This made Micah frown even more, his sister had killed him? Hadn't she? Or at least wounded him?
The bedroom door opened with its usual soft creek that sounded louder than normal. With his eyes squinted into a wince, Micah looked towards the door to see Erik slowly walking inside.
"Long time no see," he whispered, a small relieved smile twitched at his lips. Letting out an unnecessary breath, Erik closed his eyes, "Welcome back, brother."
"W-Welcome Back?" Micah chuckled with uncertainty. He looked around the room before looking back at Erik, "W-Where did I go?" Micah bit his lip, the grim expression on Erik's face gave him an unsettling feeling. "Erik?"
Licking his lips, Erik slowly walked into the room and shut the door behind himself before walking over and sitting down on the edge of the bed. Reaching over, he clasped his cold hand around the mans warm ones. "Micah, I need you to listen very carefully to what I'm about to say. Can you do that for me?"
Micah stared into Erik's eyes. He noticed that they where darker than usual, which told him Erik hadn't hunted in a good few days. But why, was the question. Seeing a range of emotions flowing through the vampires eyes, Micah clamped his lips shut and nodded his head.
Erik closed his eyes, his lips parted as he sucked in a deep breath, "I don't know how to explain this to you without sounding insane." He chuckled sadly, "Micah, after you sister.... You were taken to the hospital. They tried to save you, but the wounds where room much and I'm sorry Micah, but you died."
Tears pooled in the mans eyes, "What?" He asked, choking back the sob that wanted to escape. He wasn't imagining. His sister really had killed him. "B-But, if I d-died, then how am I here?"
Erik smiled gently, giving his hands a small squeeze, "You came back. After three hours, your heart started again. But something had changed, you had changed. Your wounds had healed, your skin got back it's healthy glow, but your heart beat was slower. So slow that unless you really tried, you couldn't find it."
Swallowing thickly, Micah nodded his head. "Does my dad know that I'm still alive? The Cullens? The pack? My friends?" He asked, tears streaming down his face.
Erik shook his head, "No." he said softly, "Only Jess, Angela, Leah, Arthur, myself and Paul know. He was the one who found you, you know? Paul held you the entire way to the hospital, he refused to leave. He was forced out by security, and he was the one who told the pack. When they received the phone call, he packed his bags and left. We hardly hear from him, but he always calls for you."
"Oh, Paul," Micah said sadly. Sniffing, he looked up at Erik, "Why didn't you tell the others?" He found himself asking. His tone wasn't angry, it wasn't demanding. It was soft and just above a whisper.
"Incase I was wrong." Erik admitted. "I was there, with the Cullens when you were pronounced dead. They tried to get to you, to turn you but they couldn't get through. They where with me when your heart restarted, but they where too overcome with grief to notice. But I did, and I stayed with you. Even after they left, because I had hope. And then you opened your eyes and they glowed so bright it hurt. And I knew then what I had to do. So I snuck you out of the hospital, and I brought you straight here. I never told the others for in fear that I imagined the entire thing."
Micah listened as Erik then went on to explain how he had been comatose for an entire month. Erik explained how the Pack had become unstable and dead set on murdering the Cullens. About how said Vampires had closed themselves away, waiting for the day the Volturi come down.
"Wait," Micah shook his head, "Why are they coming down?" He asked, his eyes swirling with confusion.
"Because someone had told them what happened. Mates are a sacred thing, not all vampires have them and when they do, they are protected with the highest power. Should a Mate be harmed, either by human or Vampire, they will face the kings for there punishment. The kings are coming to kill you sister."
