As the group got ready to journey to Salem and meet up with the rest of society, Tyler and Georgia spent more and more time together. At first Georgia felt awkward being with Tyler so often, but eventually she became her old self again.

Dan had burned himself out and had no more rage for Georgia. The group became more closely knit through the tragedy. Even Lola slowly grew friendlier and the entire group was united. When they sat down to dinner that night it was as if nothing had ever happened.

They remembered Alyssa in two ways. First, Tyler had the sketch Georgia had created. And secondly, they hung Alyssa's flag above the doorway.

Finally, a week after the day Lola, Kevin, and Carl had arrived in the ruined city, they started the car once more.
