As Kevin drove the car along the journey grew tiresome and Tyler drifted off to sleep.
"Within ten years the Werewolves, as those who allied with the beasts became known, discovered that in the absence of mankind wolves had established dominance over the other polar beasts.
The wolves were also sentient, about the same intelligence as humans from the Renaissance Era. Therefore, each Werewolf taught the alpha of the pack whatever human language he/she spoke. This bond was known as the lupus oath, and it sealed the ultimate trust between man and beast.
Even with their new allies the Werewolves couldn't stage an assault on the walled cities of the Torys, who were the humans who still hated the wolves. The Torys greatly outnumbered the wolves, so the wolves had to bide their time.
One day something strange happened to one of the Werewolves. His partner of the lupus bond died, and instead of the pack choosing a new alpha wolf, they taught him their own language, transforming the lupus oath to something greater.
