Tyler woke with a start, thrown out of his spot and into the seat in front of him. "What was that?" he mumbled almost inaudible. His question was immediately answered when he looked out the window. Their car was completely surrounded by wolves. But that wasn't the biggest surprise. There were humans with the wolves, and they seemed to be working together!
Even more surreal, the wolves seemed to obey the humans! "I think a wolf spoke," Dan whispered to Sally. "Of course," one of the wolves in close proximity to the humans said, "why wouldn't we? In fact, children, where are your familiars?"
"Familiars?" Sally asked, "what do you mean by that?"
This question prompted some of the wolves to growl and assume battle stances. That's when the first shot was fired.
