CHAPTER TEN

It was my third day at the Armstrong's, my second morning here. I looked at the clock and realized that my body is still functioning on Canada's time, I was just overtired and woke up late yesterday. It's six in the morning here, but I knew I wouldn't fall asleep again. I grabbed my book off my nightstand and crept down the stairs as quietly as possible, not knowing how heavy everyone around here sleeps. I thought about letting the dogs out right now, but then decided against it- they would surely wake everyone up with their noise.

I carefully opened the screen door that led to the backyard. The sun was creeping into the sky, skimming over the water in a marvelous inground pool. Somewhat regretfully I kept walking past the pool, finding a nice sunny patch of long, soft grass to lay in. I happily opened The Perks Of Being A Walflower and began reading where I'd left off the night before.

A couple of hours must've passed when someone flopped down in the grass beside me, jolting me from my trance-like reading state of mind.

I smiled a goodmorning at Jakob, suddenly noticing I was only wearing thin cloth shorts and a tank top laying in the grass beside an armstrong son, one of the boys I'd so crazily dreamed of marrying just a few days ago. Now that notion seemed absolutely ridiculous.

"Whatcha reading?" Jakob asked.

"The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. It's sort of weird, different from what I'm used to reading."

"Good weird?" he asked.

"Good weird." I confirmed.

We talked about books and authors, starting to get into movies when Joey stuck his head out the window and called for us to come inside.

I'd learned that Jakob and I share some common interests. Our top three authors would both be John Green, Dean Koontz and Stephen King. He admitted that he cried all through reading The Fault In Our Stars as well. I don't know how you couldn't. He said he hadn't read The Perks Of Being A Wallflower yet, so we agreed to swap some books.

Movie wise, we both liked superhero movies. My favorite is the Avengers, his is the Dark Knight trilogy- but it was unanimus that both are pretty great.

As we walked inside, the conversation coming easily, I realized that a friendship with Jakob really would be pretty great.
