CHAPTER ELEVEN

Billie Joe and Adrienne took me to register for school at Piedmont High today. I'm definitely a little nervous, because I was fast tracking at my old school, and I just hope that they'll count that in the American school system. Fast tracking meaning I've been taking summerschool classes so that I can graduate high school a year early.

After some arguing with the principal- Billie really does stand his ground, that's for sure- my fast track credits were accepted and I was enrolled in grade 12 classes instead of grade 11. The only catch is that I have to do an American History course and an American Geography course online to graduate, since I've been doing Canadian. I honestly don't care, as long as I don't have to do another year f high school.

At the end of the meeting, I was signed up for Advanced English, University Mathematics, Instrumental Music, and Visual Arts for my first semester courses. My second semester courses are Biology, Chemistry, Photography, and Digital Imaging. Overall I'm happy with my courses. They're going to be a lot of work, especially with the courses I have to take online on top of school, but it'll be worth it when I graduate the year before all of my friends back in Canada.

The two weeks that I had before school started after my meeting with the principal flew by. We all went to the beach together, swimming at home, Billie even convinced me to play my guitar for him. That was a nerve wracking experience, but he was really supportive and gave me some awesome tips. Jake and I have become great friends, which Adrienne loves, and Adrienne and I have already gone shopping together twice. Once just the two of us, once with Brittney. Britt's great too. Meeting her first made meeting Mike and Tre a whole lot less stressful. They're actually the nicest guys in the whole world, super funny and trying to make everything easier for me. It was a surreal experience, I was meeting my idols, but at the same time I was just meeting normal people with wives and kids. The coolest wives and kids ever.

Before I knew it, the first day of school had rolled around. I got up in the morning and showered, went downstairs and ate, did my hair and makeup, and then darted out the door to Joey's car so Jake and I could get a ride to school. Don't get me wrong, Joey's great too, Jakob and I just seem to click better with our interests. So conversations with Joey are still a little bit awkward if Jake isn't around. Oh well.

I had ended up deciding on faded out light denim jeans with a white boat neck Kurt Cobain top, and my white converse. I had straightened my long hair and let it run down my back, and rimmed my eyes with my typical school black outline, with a touch of gold in the corners to bring out my eyes.

Since I already had my schedule and the boys didn't, the conversation on the way to school was pretty much the boys discussing what they hoped they had this semester and who they hoped would be in their classes. I was sort of lost, but they tried to include me as best as they could.

It was only about a 20 minute drive to the school. Joey parked and we all got out. Jakob ran off in the direction of what appeared to be his grade 10 friends, yelling over his shoulder that he'd meet us back at the car at the end of the day.

"I'll show you where the service office is, then you can get your locker set up. I have to get my schedule there anyways."

I nodded gratefully at him not exactly sure what to say. As we walked down the hall, people called out to him here and there- obviously everyone knew him.

The office wasn't hard to find. Joey grabbed his schedulequickly but waited around for me as I sorted out my locker. Luckily it was on the main floor, right by my math class so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

"I gotta go meet some of my friends now, text me if you need anything, okay?"

"Okay. Thank you for helping me!"

"No problem" he said with a smile, heading off in the opposite direction that I was. Strangely, I found myself smiling too.
