CHAPTER TWELVE
My first class of the day is math. That will be great for tests, first thing in the morning. The class was mainly spent as the teacher introducing himself and going around trying to learn everyone's names. No one really paid much attention to me, which suited me just fine. I think I'd rather make some friends in music anyways, which- thankfully- is next.
The rest of math seemed to crawl by, the teacher starting the year off on a concept that I had already learned at my old school, but the rest of the class seemed a little lost. Hopefully the rest of the year is like this, then I'll get great marks.
Eventually the bell to change classes finally rang, and I practically ran out of the room and began trying to find my music class. It really wasn't that hard, I just followed a boy in front of me who was carrying a guitar case.
The music room was awesome- big, not overcrowded, with everyone sitting comfortably in their sections. I had decided since the clarinet is my first instrument I would play it for the class, knowing I would be the most useful to the class that way.
As I entered the room, the teacher practically jumped on me.
"You must be Cassandra" he said excitedly. Apparently everyone in here has been around forever.
"Just Cassie" I corrected him with a smile.
"Well Cassie, I'm Mr. Moon. I see that you play clarinet" he said, gesturing to the case I was holding. I nodded.
"Take a seat with the rest of the clarinets and class will begin in a few minutes."
I smiled gratefully at him and sat down. A boy beside me instantly perked up and turned to me.
"Hi! I'm Brody. It looks like we'll be stand partners" he said with a grin.
"I'm Cassie" I told him.
Before I could say anything else, a group of boys came parading in. Seniors are always so loud, my god. I noticed pretty quickly that Joey was among them. His eyes nearly bulged out of his head when he noticed me. He didn't have time to say anything, let alone lose the shocked look on his face before Mr. Moon started the class.
"Well, now that you boys have decided to show up, we can begin the class. It's good to see you all again. As some of you may have noticed, we have a new student joining us. I know you'll welcome Cassie with open arms."
I felt my face heating up as everyone turned to look at me. Mr. Moon quickly deflected the attention back to himself though, of which I was grateful for.
He allowed us 10 minutes to warm up on our own, so Brody and I played scales together. After our alloted ten mintues, Mr. Moon conducted us through a few basic songs and then had us play something small in front of the class, so we got a feel for what everyone liked. When it came to my turn, I played a section from a fast, high pitched song that I learned at my old school. When I finished, I caught Joey smiling at me out of the corner of my eye, so I smiled a back a little. I began to blush again when I got a few claps.
It was at the end of the class after we had packed up our instruments that Brody took my phone to put in his number. He was standing in front of me with it when Joey walked over, slying pushing in front of Brody, to which Brody stuck his arm around Joey and handed me my phone. In it he had left his number, and below it a message that read:
You're a really talented player, and pretty too- text me, maybe we could go out sometime? :-)
"See you tomorrow" he said to me, completely ignoring Joey.
"See you!" I said with a smile.
I turned my attention to Joey, who was looking at me curiously.
"What are you doing in the senior's class?" he asked.
"I fast tracked at my other school. I'm in all senior's classes."
"Really? That's wicked! What do you have next?"
"Lunch, what about you?"
"Lunch as well. Grab your stuff, I want to introduce you to my friends."
****
Hey guys, so I just realized that I fucked up on the fast tracking age. She should be 16 right now, but whatever haha. Roll with it, she needs to turn 18 in this for it to work! :-)
