CHAPTER SIX

I watched Mary's face as she drove me to the airport. Apparently my new foster home was even further away than I thought. She still wouldn't give away anything, only promising me that I'll like it.

Continuing to watch her, I realized just what a pretty woman she is. Her medium length blonde hair and perfect skin really stood out in the sun that was filtering through the windshield. I really got lucky that she's my social worker, I don't think that anyone else would try as hard as she does for me.

I decided to try again to get her to tell me.

"Pleeeeaaaaassssseeeee tell me where my new foster home is, Mary? Please?"

She turned her head slightly towards me and smiled.

"I wish I could, I really do, but it's one of those things that I just can't do. You have to find out for yourself. I promise I picked the best fit I could find for you though."

"Uggghhhhhh but I want to know!" She only smiled.

Sooner than I would've liked, we arrived at the airport. Together we brought my animals into the animal area, where they would be put in traveling cages and board the plane before me. I said my temporary goodbyes to them and joined Mary back at her car to get my bags.

Saying goodbye to Mary was harder than I thought it was going to be. She hugged me close to her chest.

"I know you'll be busy when you get there, so call me when you get a chance. Keep in touch! I want to know everything! And if you don't like anything, you just tell me and I'll get it all sorted out!"

She was tearing up. I hugged her again and boarded the plane, finding my seat without a problem. It was my first time flying, and lucky enough, I got a window seat.

"Flight 05600 to California taking off in five minutes, flight 05600 to California taking off in five minutes!" blared over the loud speaker. California?! Damn. Mary really is good, knowing how much I love the heat.

As the plane took off I watched out the window, not really knowing what to think as I left everything I've know and began my adventure to a new life. Watching things get smaller and smaller was only interesting for a few minutes, so I pulled out my ipod and began to listening to Green Day. The Forgotten off of Tre came on first, and I was quickly lulled to sleep by the beautiful melody.

I woke up to the flight attendant gently shaking my shoulder.

"Excuse me miss, but we've arrived in California."

I smiled tiredly up at her.

"Thank you!"

I stood up with my little carry-on backback and got off the plane. I was momentarily disoriented by all the hustle and bustle of the California airport, but it seemed as though everyone was heading to the luggage carosel, so I followed suit.

After grabbing my bags, I decided to try and find my ride and then I would sort out my animals. I quickly saw a man in a suit holding up a sign that read Cassandra Lester. He smiled when he saw me and told me his name is John, taking my bags from me and placing them in the trunk of the nicest limo I've ever seen in my life.

"I understand you have animals, and they have been sorted out. They'll be joining you at your new residence about an hour after you arrive."

"Thank you!"

He smiled pleasantly at me and opened the doorfor me to get in. Maybe I had just gotten off the plane, but I was grateful to be able to sit down and think about what he just said to me. Luckily there was a window between John and I, so I wouldn't have to worry about any awkward attempted conversations.

First of all, my new residence? That sounds so fancy- it must be a nice place. Secondly, I'm not exactly thrilled that I haven't even gotten to check up on my animals myself, and that they'll be arriving after me. Then again, my foster parents are nice enough to let me bring them, so I shouldn't complain.

Foster parents. Who would've thought I'd end up in a foster home? It still seems crazy, even to me. I wonder what my friends will say when they hear- I never even got a chance to say goodbye, let alone explain what was going on. Oh well. I'll have to facebook message them or something.

I gazed out the window for the next 40 minutes, internally jamming out to the Green Day that was playing in my ears. Ironically, it was Brat. Somehow I just had to laugh at that in the situation I'm in at the moment.

I'll just wait for Mom and Dad to die and get my inheritance

I was still smiling to myself when John pulled into a long driveway, that led to a goreous house. He parked and opened my door faster than I was able to exhale.

Getting out, I looked around in amazement. Some place for sure- definitely a residence.

"I'll bring your bags up to your room in a short while, go in and introduce yourself."

He gave me and encouraging smile. I took a deep breath and carefully walked up to the front door. Peacemaker blaring in my ears was the only thing that was keeping me from hyperventilating as I tentatively knocked on the door. I heard a distant dog bark, and the door swung open, revealing a grinning Billie Joe Armstrong.

"Cassandra!" he exclaimed.

Holy. Shit.
