CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Jake made Joey pull over when I finished telling him everything I had explained at lunch so he could hug me too. I'm glad that they know now- I know that they'll stand by me and help me no matter what. I don't know how I know this, something inside me just speaks louder than the doubt I've felt about people for so long.
When we got home, Jake dashed inside to plug his phone in before it died, because he wanted to text Caitlyn. I'm dying to meet this girl, because she seems to have absolutely stolen Jake's heart. Joey and I proceeded to the kitchen for snacks, and once we were fully armed we headed up to my room to tackle our hours of english homework.
By dinner time we were mostly finished, although we could've finished a lot faster if we were able to stop distracting each other. Joey's hilarious though! Apparently I'm pretty funny too, because we managed to keep each other laughing. I'm just glad that Joey is opening up to me- for a while it seemed like he only tolerated me, and that it was only for Jake that he was nice to me. Now I know that we're friends.
It wasn't long after we finished and were just talking that Adie came up to get us, as Billie wanted to take everyone out for dinner. I got up and fixed my hair quickly, before following Joey out to the car.
We ended up going to Olive Garden. Billie knew what all of us would want by heart. Maybe it's just the 'treat you like family' atmosphere at Olive Garden, or maybe I really do feel part of a family.
It was as we were finishing desert that the "How was your day?" question was getting tossed around. I could feel my insides churning, anxiety building. I have to be honest with Billie and Adie too if I want us to be a family, but what if they think I'm just some fuck up who needs to get away from them before she fucks things up for them too? Just as my breathing began to speed up as the panic set in, Joey, who was sitting beside me, put his hand on my thigh and rubbed it comfortingly. Damn, he's really observant. Never once making eye contact, he was leaving the decision to talk up to me. So I did.
I relayed my day for a third time to Billie and Adie. They definitely seemed surprised, because even Mary wasn't aware of some of my problems, so she wouldn't have been able to give them a heads up. But they were so happy that I trusted them enough to tell them that Adie cried a little.
We finished our desert, went home, and watched movies until we absolutely had to go to bed if we had any hope of surviving school the next day. And through the whole night, I felt the same thing- family.

OH MY GOD IM SO SORRY FOR THE WAIT AND THE SHORT CHAPTER. Ahhhh I'll get better. It's late so I'll try and post something decent tomorrow. Oh, and if you're unaware, today is Family Day in Canada, where we get a holiday to spend with a family- hence the theme of the update ;)
