Taeyeon and Baekhyun made their choice, but their love for each other will never change, but some people are just not meant to be together, no matter how hard you try or how much you love and care for each other, especially when you work in an industry where everything has limits, and you can't do what you truly want, but it doesn't matter because it's the path they both chose, and they must pay the consequences.
“Are you certain you want to perform?” their manager asked for the twelfth time after Baekhyun had left the room.
Taeyeon nodded, “I'm sure,” she replied as she was getting her makeup and hair done by her makeup artist, despite the fact that she had just returned from crying after her love had left the room after their conversation, which was most likely their final conversation.
“You look unhappy, Taeyeon; I understand you and Baekhyun decided to end your relationship, but your members, and this concert, need you as well.”
She sighed deeply as she looked in the mirror at their manager before responding, “I know, and I'll be fine performing; a lot of people, our fans, are eagerly awaiting this concert, and I don't want to disappoint them by not showing up on stage; I don't want another issue about me.”
“All right, it's set. Good luck with your performance later,” their manager clapped as he looked at Taeyeon and the other member of Girls' Generation before walking up and sat on the empty chair next to Taeyeon, a sympathetic expression on his face. “I'm so sorry, Taeyeon; you and Baekhyun are fantastic together, but perhaps this wasn't your time yet.”
“Perhaps it's because society wasn't ready for us, or maybe it's because I don't know how to love him back, the way he loved me,” she thought, shaking her head quickly to keep from crying and ruining her makeup.
Taeyeon became nervous as soon as the concert began, not because of the people inside the arena, but because of her own state. She had just broken up with her boyfriend the night before, and he had said goodbye to her just hours before the concert; how can she face their fans with a fake smile, fake laugh, or feigning enjoyment in the concert? It's not right for her.
“But then again, it's the path I chose; I have to get up there and perform with the girls; this is my life, and I should be happy with it,” she told herself several times before their group took the stage to perform their number.
Mr. Mr. was the first song they performed, the same song she used to love listening to all the time, but not anymore because it's the same song she heard he was listening to when she went to his place the day they were caught together.
“Seriously Baekhyun?”
“What? My girlfriend is a member of this girl group called Girls' Generation. And she's the best female main vocalist I've ever heard and known; I'm so proud of her.”
“I'm proud of whom you've become and who you'll become in the future; I'm proud of having a boyfriend like you, but I ruined it.”
That was the first thing she remembered as they performed their first song for the concert; she's hurting, and he's hurting too, even though he's at the backstage, but they have to perform for their beloved fans. The same people who backed them up and turned their backs on their relationship.
“You can do this, Taeyeon, the performance is almost over,” she told herself repeatedly as they performed to motivate herself and focus on what was in front of her.
