Chapter V

“You can open your eyes now,” Baekhyun said as we came to a stop near where he had taken me, and my eyes widened as I saw what was in front of me.

We're on Nami Island, and he obviously rented this particular location for us, so it's private and no one will see us. In front of me was a beautiful night view of Nami Island. I really thought our first date would be as simple as I thought it would be, but I guess I was wrong. After all, this is Byun Baekhyun.

“Picnic, huh? I thought…” I didn't finish what I was about to say because I didn't want to ruin this night, but I think he knew.

“You really thought I'd let our first date be simple?” he joked, smirking and whispering, “I'm not going to do that to my girl.”

His girl, huh? I raised my brow at him, but he didn't change what he said; instead, he grinned broadly and led me to the blanket, which contained a basket full of foods.

“No one will see us here, don't worry,” he reassured me as I stood there waiting for him to finish preparing the foods for our picnic date night.

“I know. I'm sorry,” I quickly moved to my knees to help him, but he didn't let me, instead he told me just sit there.

We didn't know what to do after that and felt awkward as we sat across from each other, silently eating whatever food he brought. For a first date, this is a little awkward.

“So, why did you like me?” I blurted before I could think of a topic to discuss, but I became even more intrigued when he simply looked at me and quickly averted his gaze, his ears visibly turning red.

“Why did you like me?” he asked quietly as well, not looking at me.

“But I asked you first, Baekhyun.”

That prompted him to turn to face me, and once he was certain I wouldn't ask any further questions, he sighed deeply and reached for my hand, which was resting on my lap.

He has a firm grip on my hand. “Okay, fine, I'll go first, when I first saw you, I just fell right there like… this may sound cheesy, but you're like an angel who came down here for me to admire. I just felt it the moment you entered the building, and then when the trainees got close to the seniors, I finally got the chance to know you even from afar. I admire your smile, your talent, your personality, I admire everything about you, Taeyeon. I just hope I get the chance to prove it to you.”

Hearing him say those words, I was taken aback, my heart racing as I stared at the man who made me feel love all the time and even from afar, the man who gave me a reason to continue and give our relationship a chance, the one and only Byun Baekhyun who never failed to amaze and surprise me.

“I didn't say anything bad, did I?” he asked nervously.

“No, you didn't say anything bad to me; in fact, you said the most beautiful thing to me,” I said, shaking my head and grinning as I remembered what he had just said. “Oh, and you have your chance now, don't you?”

“I do,” he chuckled lightheartedly, but his face was solemn. “So, Taeyeon, tell me why you liked me.”

“You're funny,” I quickly replied, remembering those times when he would make everyone in the room smile or laugh, especially when we were all tired from concerts and comebacks, but he still made sure that no one was sad or feel tired.

“I am funny?” he asked, confused.

I added while nodding. “Yes, you are, and your passion for dancing and singing as well.”

“Okay, I'll take that answer,” he simply said, grinning widely as he took a piece of grape on the plate and offered it to me, “Here, say 'ah',” he jokingly said as I opened my mouth and took the grapes from him.
