I watched as Baekhyun walked away from us to go back to his room because he wasn't feeling well, and after a minute Sehun stood up and excused himself to check on his brother, who was followed by Kai and Kyungsoo. I was concerned about him and wished I could go check on him, but I couldn't.

We all went our separate ways after eating and will meet at the pool later. I decided to take a minute walk by myself before my feet seemed to have their own mind and led me to the direction of my room, and as I was approaching the room, I noticed a familiar tall figure standing there with his hand leaning on the door.

“Baekhyun?” I called out, recognizing his figure and the clothes he's wearing today; he's wearing a simple black hoodie, jeans, and black sandals.

Oh! Did I also mention that he's wearing a snapback hat? And he's wearing it backwards. He's attractive even in simple clothes, and he hasn't changed yet, so he's not ready for a swim later this afternoon. But what exactly is he doing here?

When he heard me call his name, he seemed to tense up and snap back to reality, before slowly turning to face me with a surprised and embarrassed expression and… Also, as soon as our gazes met, something flashed in his eyes… Was that longing? Or what?

“Taeyeon… How long have you been there?” he asked, surprised to see me standing there.

“Not long enough…” I trailed off as I took a step forward, putting myself in front of him. “What brings you here, Baekhyun?”

His lips parted as if trying to come up with an answer, but he quickly closed them and stuttered as he walked past me. “N-nothing, I-I need to go,” he said.

I couldn't help but chuckle when he tripped slightly as he attempted to walk away from me as quickly as possible. But the truth is, I heard what he said, and I want nothing more than for it to come true.

“I'd like that too, you know…” I muttered, loud enough for him to hear and causing him to pause, as I continued, “…us being friends again.”

Not just friends, I want us to be more than friends again, but I know we shouldn't push it, at least not right now. We must begin as friends, and the rest will have to wait if we are truly meant for each other and meant to be together in this way. Or whether it's truly worth fighting for?

He just stood there for a minute, frozen when he heard what I just said, anxiety creeping in that maybe I shouldn't say that to him? Maybe he doesn't want that, or maybe I misheard what he said?

“Really…?” he exclaimed as he slowly turned around to face me, grinning, but his eyes were saying something I couldn't understand as he blinked it away. “I-I'm sorry… I mean…”

“Baekhyun, calm down,” I said with a small laugh, as he stood there fiddling with his hand, averting my gaze.

He's clearly as nervous as I am; this will be the first time we talk for more than a minute. This was something I had overlooked. I missed him. And this is my one and only chance in the last seven years to say what I've been wanting to say.

“Taeyeon—”

“Baekhyun—”

“Oh, you get to go first,” I said.

“No, you go first,” he said, nervously scratching the back of his neck.

I nodded and sighed deeply. “Well, as you mentioned, I, too, want us to be friends again; I know a lot has happened in the last few years, but…”
