”Kassie…come here..there’s a box here for you…” Sam said looking at the table where a small brown box was laying, addressed to her.

”It’s too small to be a graduation gift…and it’s not a gift card….” she said out loud staring at it.

”It’s from the Hernandez…” Sam said glancing at the label and the handwriting.

”It’s from Tiara….” she said picking it up excitedly. She found a small box wrapped in blue and yellow wrapping paper, the same colors of her soon to be school.

”Oh, open it!” she heard her mother from the outside of room. ”I want to see!”

She ran her pink nails against the paper. She opened the small box knowing exactly what it was. She didn’t. Oh my gosh. She bought 3 of these…Kassie pulled out a small charm that said Mahal Kita on the back.

”Oh, it’s like Livvy’s!” Sam said looking at it. She took out the piece of paper underneath the necklace to read the note to herself.

To our lovely Kassandra,

We love you and want you to know we love you like another daughter. We are sorry that we aren’t able to see you on your special day. But, we will make it up to you when you get here.

Love, everyone

She flipped over the note to see Bruno’s handwriting on the back.

I love you. I miss you. I need you. June 3rd. –B.

”Awww….” Kassie smiled putting the necklace around her neck.

Kassie parked her car in the big field for Graduation. She hadn’t been home all day because of rehersal and random things. She knew her father had flown in that afternoon with the kids and the evil wicked witch. She knew that her family was going to put on a happy face for her, but deep down inside she was dreading the event reminding herself of the disaster that was Olivia’s graduation. She looked out into the crowd finding the spot where she knew her parents would be sitting after they walked out. She felt her phone vibrate within her bra.

”Did your boob just vibrate?” Alex, the boy sitting next to her asked. She glanced down reaching around her gown to pull it out. ”Umm, yeah….” she smiled at the text message again looking up again. ”Oh my god….” she did a little dance in her chair seeing Bruno’s smiling face next to her brother.

”Is he here?” the girl next to her, Amanda, asked.

”Yeah…” she pointed over to her brother at Bruno.

”Oh my…he is cute. And he has adorable dimples.” Amanda answered.

Two hours and 641 diplomas later Kassie threw her hat in the air and screaming. She followed the crowd through the football field where they graduated never taking her eyes off of Bruno. She was slightly hoping that he would come and get her instead of her having to go to them. And bam, there he was…standing off to the side away from the crowd.

”Brunito!” she screamed running up to him.

”Kasssieeeee…” he smiled picking her up and spinning her around.

”I missed you….” she told him resting her head on his shoulder.

”I missed you too, come on…let’s go…” he said grabbing her hand leading her toward her parents.

”Get ready for the worst night ever…” Kassie said looking at her stepmother’s face.

”It’s the best night ever, Kass, I’ve got you…” he stopped her in the middle of the moving crowd to kiss her trying to reassure her that the evening would be okay. She felt the world stop moving as he put his hands on her cheek.

”Eww..Kassandra. That’s gross.” she heard her ex walk by watching her. She pulled away from Bruno realizing it probably wasn’t the right place to make out with him.

”Sorry, Kittie…” he told her taking her hand walking toward her family. Kassie introduced Bruno to a few of her friends on the way to her family.

”Did he just call you Kittie?” Brandy asked her.

”Yeah…my baby brother could never say Kassie..he called me Kittie for the longest time. It just stuck. But don’t even think you can get away with it.” Kassie laughed.

”Alright, Kittie Jackson.” Brandy said as they parted ways.

After a relatively uneventful graduation dinner with both sides of her dysfunctional family Kassie followed Bruno to his sister’s car. Kassie had invited her former babysitter and boyfriend’s sister the event not expecting her to come. But, she brought not only herself and her newborn and younger son, but her brother as well.

”Kassandra…” Bruno said stopping halfway away from the car.

”Bruno…” she smiled at him. He took the necklace from her neck playing with the charm on the end.

”I like this…” he told her.

”I like it too, thank you.”

”You know what?” he asked her.

”What?” she wasn’t sure if he was being serious or he was playing games.

”You’d look better without any of that on…” he said flirtatiously.

”Oh my god….Bruno…” she started to blush at his forward thoughts.

”Serious…” he said touching the strap on her sundress making her tingle.

She leaned in towards his lips. He started to close his eyes as she started to open her mouth to speak. ”You’re going to have to work to get this.” she told him pulling away trying not to laugh at him.

”I’m down.” Bruno said with no emotion walking toward his sister’s car.

”I’ll see you tomorrow, Bruno…” she said walking back toward the house.

”Bruno…” Jamie started talking to him once he got in the car.”Don’t hurt her.”

”I’m not going to.” he told his sister putting on his seatbelt looking out the window.
