Xavier

We all remained where we stood. Even Seine who ran suddenly stopped in her tracks. Why? How could they do this? They need us! They need the Senses! Why?... I found my answer. If Serene died, Tranquil would inherit Taste. The Sense is still alive. Unlike Seine and I who had no siblings, Taste would still remain even after Serene's death.

Did that justify their actions? Of course it doesn't. The Sense would still be alive but Serene would be gone.

Seine screamed. A mind piercing shriek that sent shockwaves in our brains. All of us tumbled down. I felt her anguish, her anger. Everything that she felt. She was about to rush at Necromancer but Zero held her back.

"Let me go!" she screamed. "Wala siyang karapatan na patayin si Serene! Wala!"

"Seine," mahinang sabi ni Zero. "Kapag kakalabanin mo siya, mamatay ka lang."

"Makinig ka sa kaibigan mo, Hearing," natatawa niyang sabi habang naglalakad patungo kay Serene.

He held Serene by her hair and showed her body to us. "This is the real Taste, Xavier. Ito ang tinatago ng kaibigan mo!"

At first, I didn't understand what he said. And then it happened.

Something I didn't expect. The bullet was lodged out of Serene's body as if her flesh was acknowledging it as a foreign object that didn't belong to the body. Her wounds steamed and closed. Serene opened her eyes.

"Guys..." she whispered. "I'm sorry..."

"What the hell..."

"You all know what happens to Senses when something close to them dies, right? Ano kaya sa tingin niyo ang nangyari kay Serene nang mamatay ang kaibigan niya?"

Hindi na kami sumagot. Alam na namin ang sagot.

"She became a monster who wouldn't die by normal means! Even if you do this..." Necromancer held the gun at Serene's head and fired it a point blank range. Just like before, the bullet was lodged out and her body began to regenerate. "Kahit barilin mo pa siya sa ulo, hindi siya mamatay."

This was the power of the Sense who reigned over life and youth. A never-ending regeneration.

Necromancer threw Serene at the corpses who secured her body. "The only way for her to die is to injure her enough so that she'll overuse her ability and break down or turn into a monster."

"Serene!"

"I'm... okay."

Napalingon kaming lahat kay Necromancer.

"Let her go, Necromancer!"

Ngumiti siya sa amin. "At bakit? Just give up on saving the humans, Xavier. They'll kill you the moment they know what you are."

"You're just the same as them! Pinapatay niyo ang Senses dahil hindi niyo nakukuha ang gusto niyo!" sagot ko sa kanya.

"Hindi ako katulad nila! Alam mo ba ang ginawa nila sa amin? They massacred my whole family! All because they were afraid of us!"

From his screams, I could feel his anger at humanity. At the people who caused the death of his family.

"They burned our house down!" Necromancer looked at his hands as if he was still seeing the past in them. "Hindi mo alam ang pakiramdam, Xavier. Ang pakiramdam na marinig ang mga sigaw ng pamilya mo habang unti-unti silang nasusunog ng buhay!"

"Hindi ibig sabihin niyan ay pareho na sila sa ibang tao. May mabubuti pang tao, Necromancer, at wala kang ginawa kundi ay patayin sila dahil sa galit mo!"
