"You can now open your eyes, Ali," he uttered.
Once I slowly opened my eyes, my eyes grew bigger in shock.
We're now here at a private luxury restaurant to celebrate our fifth anniversary together.
A set up of a romantic and intimate candle lit dinner date, rose petals scattered on the floor, a live band, and of course a bouquet of flowers.
Five years had passed, but I'm still celebrating it with the same person that I love.
We've grew together in terms of our relationship and our individual selves...
We both shared our passions...
We both shared wisdom...
It's just him.
I can't imagine another man will be entering my life again.
After we ate the foods that have been prepared, we just talked about our celebration.
"Happy Fifth Anniversary, Maverick," I greeted him.
"Happy Fifth Anniversary, Aleana," he rested his hand on the table, looking at me.
"Thank you for being my home for five years...and more," I smiled. "At first, I'm so pissed on you, right?"
"Yeah, I remembered that one," he chuckled, reminiscing our past years together.
I rolled my eyes at him.
"You mean...you are already in love with me?" he asked.
He grinned, "I'm just asking, Ali. So, what is that sudden change?"
I sighed, "What I meant is...I got to know you better and proven that you're a trustworthy person."
"Hmm," he hummed, still looking at me.
"What?" I asked.
"You're so gorgeous," he complimented. "It seems like everything you do makes you beautiful."
"I'll never gain my confidence without you, Maverick," I said.
He nodded, "You deserved it, Ali."
We both smiled because the live band played a song, suit for a slow dance.
Better Place by Rachel Platten
As we both stood up, we go to the center to dance.
He wrapped his arms around my waist, embracing my soul, accepting me for who I was before...who I am today...and whom I'm becoming to in the future.
We looked at each other's eyes, searching the depths of our love.
We slowly swayed...
He was very careful to dance with me. I could hear his heart beating...and so do him with mine.
Once I've rested my head into his shoulder, he whispered something that made my knees go weak.
"I've been thinking about this lately...and now I'm sure about doing this one," he huskily said.
"About what?" I asked.
He didn't answered my question. Instead, he kneeled in front of me.
Is he...going to propose?
Teka, papaano sila nakapunta rito?
Wait...hindi pa sa akin nagsisink in.
"Aleana, will you spend the rest of your life with me?" he asked.
I know that he already asked their blessing, but still as their daughter, I want to respect my parents.
I looked at them, "Teka lang. Mom...Dad, can I?"
Tumango lamang sila at napangiti ako.
I mouthed thank you at them.
"I'm waiting, Ali," he said. "Can I marry my Ali now?"
I nodded, "Yes, love."
Applauses and greetings surrounded the venue.
Tears started flowing in my cheeks as he slid the ring on my finger.
It's a simple ring, yet a meaningful one.
He stood up and hugged me, tears are also shone in his eyes, "Thank you, Ali. Mahal na mahal kita."
I whispered, "Mahal kita nang sobra."
I'm engaged!
I'm engaged with the man who shared and opened his wisdom with me.
Right after the celebration, Maverick and I decided to go home in our unit.
"I love you," he whispered, seductively.
I bit my lower lips, "I – I love you, Maverick."
"Please," I begged.
He smiled, whispering, "Shh, love. Let's take it slow."
After making love with him, we cuddled.
"I'll never leave you, Aleana," he whispered in a deep voice. "You will be wearing my surname, soon."
