"You know, this coffee shop is one of my favourite places in New Haven." I say excited when me and Max enter the vintage coffee shop."I am glad you like it." He smiles. We sit in the corner near the big window. It's raining outside so it's nice that we have a view of the rain.
"What are you looking at?" He asks me.
"It's nothing, I just love it when it's raining." I explain without facing him, but the view instead.
"To be honest I don't, sunny weather for me."
"It makes sense, you grew up on West Coast."
"Yeah, that's true." He gives me a smile "I will always choose West Coast over the East one." His dimples stand out when he smiles but they're not as cute as Dylan's.
Dylan is the standard, the blueprint, the best male bitch to ever walk on planet earth who is not a Hayden.
"As a real New Yorker you know what I would choose."
"Of course." We ordered our coffees and desserts. Brownies for both of us. Bro, if you love chocolate I already like you.
I should stop referring to everyone as bro.
"That's so funny, stop!" I am laughing for five minutes straight now. His stories from high school are the best thing I have heard lately. I don't have many funny stories from my high school years, mostly mean ones full of revenge and schemes. I went to a private school in New York, so it makes sense I believe.
"Okay, that was my best one. I can't remember another one for now." He says but it's okay, I already laughed a lot.
"It's fine, my stomach hurts from so much laughing." I rest my back on the back of my chair and I take the last bite of my brownies, smiling at him.
"I am sorry-" He smiles "No, I am not. By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
"Go ahead."
"There is an oncoming game this Friday. Not very important, though, for sure not like the Harvard one next week. But, I would like you to come."
"I would love that, I am a big fan of football." I smile proudly "I will come with my friends."
We sat for another and then he drove me back. He insisted on walking with me until my dorm because it's late and now we are in front of my door "Thank you for walking with me. And today was fun." I smile at him.
"Yeah," He smiles back "I had a great time too."
"Good night, Max."
I go for a hug but he catches me off guard when he softly presses his lips on mine. I slightly widen my eyes, but fortunately, he doesn't notice. He slowly pulls away, smiling "Good night, Audrey."
"I will see you on the game." I give him a small smile and then, I get in my room and he leaves.
It was a nice kiss and I wish I had felt something, but no. Absolutely nothing.
Maybe he just caught me off guard and the next time I will feel something. Maybe we need a repeat.
It was a fun date. I really like him, but I can't figure how. The kiss should be enough of an answer, I should have felt something if I wasn't seeing him as a friend only. Thinking about our date and the kiss, I take a shower and I get ready for bed. I am lying on my bed texting to the girls, giving them a full update. They are way more excited than me and that alone means everything.
"Oh shit, the plant!" I jump.
Dylan's plant. The one that is responsible for his broken MacBook. He comes back tomorrow morning and he asked me to water it because Lucas is out of town since this morning. A family thing back in Ohio, I don't know any details but it is not something serious.
