Surrounded by the darkness of the void, I found myself blinded by the blackness of the vacuum around me.
How did things end up like this?
It didn't take much effort to think back to why I ended up like this. My body was that of a six year old boy but being a Celestial meant that I wasn't as weak as a human for example. But still something was wrong.
No matter where I looked, everything was black. I reached up to my face, feeling around my eyes, a stinging sensation bringing back memories of the not so distant past.
"The boy cannot control even his own powers. He will be deemed too unstable to live in the Palace along with the four."
"That's right. But we should wait for the King's decision. We can't act on our own."
Two familiar voices rang out in my ears. I recognised them to be to the brothers who guarded the Palace. Both were Elemental Incarnates and even shared the same blood. Despite this, they had their differences but six year old me couldn't see them parting ways.
"Isn't there anything we can do? He'll die out there if we leave him be."
"I'm afraid not. The King's word is final and we have to accept that, even if we don't agree with it."
Booming footsteps filled my ears, drowning out the voices around me. I felt a terrifying presence before me, filling my entire body with dread. My knees felt weak and before I knew it, a dominating aura forced my young body to the floor.
"Ayaan."
I winced at the name, feeling the memories flooding back to me.
"The Beyondlands await you, where the minutes here become the months there. You will have nothing to do with us so you should die quickly and in peace."
That was it. This was how I ended up like this. My eyes had been taken away from me so that I couldn't even see my hands in front of my face.
I felt my temper flaring, pure anger flowing through my veins. I hated them. With every ounce of my existence, I loathed them. From their condescending smirks to their air of 'we are superior', everything about them struck a nerve in my body.
My instincts took over, my mouth opening as I let out a roaring cry of pain and agony. They would pay for this. For leaving a child defenseless in the Beyondlands was one thing but leaving them blind, crippled, starving and alone was another.
A scurrying sound caught my ear, my head snapping to the direction of the sound. Even if my eyes were of no use, I still had five other senses. That's right. Celestials were gifted with six senses, only adding to the case that we were the most superior race.
The sense of aura detection was limited to only a few races but it was a skill that could be trained. My innate sense was forced to reach its limit because if it didn't I would be dead in a matter of minutes.
Again the scurrying sound came but this time it was closer. I stayed still, feeling the uneven ground beneath my feet, focusing on the malicious aura nearby.
Then whatever was lurking in the darkness leapt forward, baring its fangs. I only raised my arm, catching the creature with my right hand. I tightened the grip around its neck, feeling its snake like body squirming uncomfortably.
