Chapter Seventeen

-Nina-

The morning after we made love, I woke up confused and afraid kaya umalis akong walang paalam. I went back to Cosette's house and told Marco to give me more time.

Di pa ako handa bumalik sa kanya dahil takot akong masaktan muli. I know he's trying to be patient but I need more time. For now, masaya ako na ganito kami. We never argue but enjoyed each other's company.

A month after...

I missed my period and I felt nauseous and dizzy every morning so I went to buy a pregnancy test kit. The moment two red lines appeared, I cried of happiness.

Buntis ako. I am carrying Marco's child and this made me really happy. If di man ako magawang mahalin ni Marco, at least ang anak namin mamahalin niya. I felt so excited to tell everyone pero gusto ko si Marco ang makakaalam muna kaya di ko sinabi kay Cosette.

Marco called me to have dinner but I asked him na dito na lang para maipagluto ko siya. Then I will tell him na magkakababy na kami at magsasama na kami sa bagong bahay bilang totoong mag-asawa.

Nag-grocery ako at namili ng mga lulutuin ko para mamayang gabi.
May mga Filipino dishes na paborito si Marco tulad ng Chicken and Pork adobo.

Nang natapos akong magluto ay nagbihis na ako at inantay si Marco. Wala si Cosette sa bahay kasi may pinuntahan siyang party at late nang makakauwi kaya solo namin ang bahay ni Marco.

Narinig kong may pumasok sa pinto mula sa kwarto ko kaya tatayo na sana ako ngunit narinig ko ang boses ni Luc.

"Hi Nina. Where's Cosette? You're going out with Marco again?" He asked smiling.

"Cosette's out and no, we'll be having dinner here." I replied and he went inside so I stood up.

"How's everything going between you two?"

"We're doing great and...." I faltered then he cocked his head to the side waiting for me to continue.

"I am pregnant, Luc." I said unable to help myself from telling him the good news.

"Congratulations!" He bursted and hugged me.

I am so happy we're going to have a baby!" I said delighted.

"I told you our plan will work!" Luc replied and hugged me again.

"Yes and when he knows about our baby, he'll be very happy. Oh Luc! This is really a happy start for the both of us."

"I am happy too. Finally! So I can propose to Monique."

We talked for a few minutes and Luc said goodbye then left. I checked my watch and began to worry because he was late. I called but his phone was unattended so I decided to go out and wait for him. As I walked towards the door, a servant informed me that Marco was here an hour ago.

Upon hearing this, I called him again and again but there was no one answering until I fell asleep.

The next morning, pinilit kong tawagan at itext si Marco na pati si Monique kinulit ko pero he was nowhere to be found. Ito ang kinakakatakutan ko na baka nagsawa na siya sa kaka-antay sa akin at naisipan muling mambabae.

Like they always say once a cheater, always a cheater. Iba ang kutob ko pero di ako nawalan ng pag-asa na baka may nangyari lang or busy lang siya na nakaligtaan niya akong sabihan.

Pero parang nahihibang na ako nang lumipas ang tatlong araw na walang balita kay Marco. Desperada na ako kaya tinawagan ko si Luc para magpatulong na hanapin si Marco.

"Tell me what happened okay? Stop crying. I'll be there." Sagot ni Luc at pilit kong tumahan. Ganito ba kapag buntis, emosyonal agad agad?

I never felt so alone in my life. Gusto ko dito si tatay, sina Felicity at Trixie! Gusto ko si Marco andito sa tabi ko habang dinadala ko ang magiging anak namin. But what happened? He's gone again!
