there's a couple weeks left before lovely's baby shower. her, shoota, jayla, and kiro been busy planning shit so it's by job to watch after legend. i've had the boys come over every now and then to help me.
"legend get down! i said as he climbed the side of the stairs. he jumped down and ran towards me and laid his head on my lap.
"i'm hungry. he said in a whine.
"benny is comin.
"with what?
"pizza. he ran to the window and sat there.
"what are you doing?
"i'm gonna wait. i shook my head and smiled. kids are so pure.
i was putting together lovely's baby shower gift when the doorbell rang.
i walked in the living room and legend wasn't at the window anymore.
"legend. i called out and he poked his head from behind the wall. "what are you doin?
"people. he said pointing to the window. i peaked out and saw three men with black on. one of them had something in their hands but i couldn't make it out.
"um, go in the back in your play room and closed the door okay. i gotta talk wit my friends. he nodded and walked off. i went over to my purse and grabbed my gun out of it and tucked it.
they knocked at the door again and i cracked it open. i looked them over. they looked familiar but i don't know exactly where i remember them from. the man had flowers in his hand. "can i help you? i asked.
"we were instructed to drop these off at this location for ahjee lane." this was the third time this month flowers were brought to my house.
"thank you." i said taking them and closing the door. identical as the other ones, this one had no name on it just a paper with an infinite sign on it. thinking it was from katorah, i jus put them in the garbage.
"who tf were they? benz asked walking in with pizza boxes.
"the same ppl from last time. more fuckin flowers.
"you still gettin them shits? i nodded. "somebody must love you.
"i have a feelin it's from katorah so i jus toss them out. i said gesturing to the garbage can.
he walked over and looked inside. "damn that's tuff. where's lil man?
"in his play room. i head home banging on the walls making a beat as he walked down the hallway.
i took out plates and cups.
"ahjee where tf is he at?
"huh? i said turning around
"he's not in his playroom.
i rushed past him and opened the door. he wasn't there like he said. we walked through out the house screaming his name and he didn't answer. it was a big house but legend was familiar with it by now so i doubt he'd ever get lost.
i started to panick. why is it always with me something goes wrong?
i ran through out the house. he was no where.
"you find em? benz asked me as we met up again. i shook my head and he smacked his teeth. "relax we gon find him aight. he said, gently hugging me. i guess he noticed me shaking a little.
we rounded this house again, together this time. we were upstairs when i heard the paw patrol theme song playing very faintly. i walked through the hallway as the sound grew. it was coming from the closet i opened it and called his name. he poked his head out from the crawl space.
"is it safe to come out? he whispered.
i nodded and he crawled towards me with his ipad. "listen to me. i said standing him in front of me. "when i tell you to go somewhere please just go there okay? he nodded as tears fell down my face.
"i didn't mean to make u cry i just didn't want something to happen like last time. he said to me. something in my broke. i don't know what it was but it didn't feel good. i hugged him close to me and pushed the closet door shut.
i walked into the kitchen carrying him as he laid on my shoulder.
"you found em. benz said walking on from the other side. i nodded and sat him at the island. i motioned for benz to come to me and i pulled him aside.
"he was in the crawl space. when i got him out he was scared the same thing that happened last time was gonna happen again."
he sighed and looked down at me. "it's not your fault ahjee. it's really not. you need to understand that it isn't." he hugged me and we went back to the kitchen to eat pizza with legend.
