Location - Janet's Kitchen
"Umm I guess the appetizers look just fine. Don't they?" Janet says to herself. "I mean, I've got Sticky Baked Chicken Wings. Crab Cakes with Horseradish Cream. Caramelized Onion Dip and Deviled Eggs With Country Ham."
"That is a lot of food." A voice says.
Janet turns back and smiles at the boy. "I know, Sweetie. But, it's not for just one person, Aid." She pats him on the head.
"It's still a lot." Gloria says entering the kitchen, munching on a kitkat bar. "What do you have for the mains?" She adds while pulling out a box of sour gummies from the fridge.
"Oh. There's Cedar-Plank Salmon, Chicken Legs with Grapes and Fennel, Potato Gnocchi, Caesar Salad Roast Chicken and Habanero Barbeque Shrimp." Janet says with a proud smile.
"Oh my God." Gloria scoffs. "Your Aunty's gone crazy." She bends down to talk to her son. "Janie that's a lot of food!" She adds.
The door bell rings.
"Wait till dinner and we'll see who eats life she's been hungry for the past decade." Janet whispers to Aiden who laughs a bit.
"Aunty El is here!" A squealing Autumn enters the kitchen with Joseph and Rachel following her.
"Tum Tum, DID YOU ANSWER THE DOOR?" Janet asks.
"Yes, Aunty J." the girls replies with a small voice.
"Haven't I told you to not answer the door when there are adults around to do it?" Gloria scolds her daughter.
"Sorry, mom. I just excited." The girl says guiltily.
The party moves to the living room. Janet hugs and greets the newly weds.
"How are you two? How's married life?" An excited Gloria asks the two as the family sits down on the couches.
"It's literally been one day." Rachel laughs.
"And we have been married for the past 3 years. It's just that, we got married on paper yesterday." Joseph adds.
The door bell rings. Janet walks up to attend it. A smiling young pair smiles at the brunette.
"Welcome, Ian. Rob." Janet let's the two in.
______________//Time Skip//______________
After a good round of fun discussion and snacks, the group gets impatient.
"If you aren't the worst host, sister." Joseph glares at his sister.
"Joseph, we should wait for David. I'm sure he's busy with something. He did say that he'll be here." Rachel chastises her husband.
"No. Let's start with dinner." Janet blurts out shocking everyone else in the room.
"What?" Janet lifts her eyebrows. "We can't let the kids starve, right?" She adds ushering the group towards the dining area. "Come on."
Everyone sits at the table. Everyone except Janet. The party looks at her expectantly.
"Erm. Y'all go ahead. I'll help you." She says and starts serving food.
"Janet. Stop." Damian speaks up. "We know you want to wait for my brother. But, don't worry about this, we can help ourselves." He adds as the group starts to place food onto their plates.
"I'll be back in a moment." Janet leaves for her bedroom.
"Where the fuck is he." She mutters to herself and dials David's phone number.
