Location - The Hospital

Both the Richards men and Joseph, run into the hospital, that Janet's bodyguard had asked them to.

"Excuse me. Janet Claremont was brought in here. She had an accident." Joseph asks the receptionist.

Instead of replying, the girl got busy gawking at the three attractive men.

"Ma'am!" Damian barks at the woman, bringing her out of her reverie.

"Yes. Who?" She asks.

"Janet Claremont. She had an accident." David growls this time. His voice sounds too calm.

"Yes. She's currently in the Operation Theatre. On the 2nd floor. The elevator is that way." She replies, pointing towards the elevators.

The three men run towards the flight of stairs, completely ignoring the girl's instructions.

Once they reach the area, and find Jeff seated on one of the benches. A nurse attending to the little wounds he has on his face and hands.

"You." Joseph almost lunges towards the bodyguard and grabs him by the collar. The nurse let's out a squeal and runs away.

Damian's eye widen and he walks forward to remove Joseph from Jeff.

"Sir, you have to believe me. I was extra careful about it all." Jeff pleads.

"Oh really? Then how the fuck did this happen!" Joseph says with gritted teeth.

"Ms. Claremont was seated on the right of the car, sir. A truck came towards us at the intersection.." he says and pauses. He then proceeds to sit back on one of the seats and is about continue with his explanation when, another voice finishes it for him.

"from the right side. It hit exactly on the right side. The car is trashed halfway, just the right side. Which means.." It was DI Scott Burke.

"Which means, they wanted to harm Ms. Claremont, and Ms. Claremont alone. Not Mr. Jeffery Litt." The DI finishes.

"Why did they made sure that Jeff stays untouched?" Damian speaks.

"Because they wanted me to blame Jeff, and mislead us." David replies. "Look. I don't have time for this. I just need to know where my girlfriend is."

"She's was bleeding a lot, Sir." Jeff's voice comes out shaky. "She's being taken care of as well speak."

David gulps loudly as he pushes his hands in his pockets.

After what seems like years, the doors to the OT open, and a man who was in his mid thirties, walks out. Only Joseph, David and Damian were the ones present there.

"Doctor. I'm Joseph Claremont. Janet's brother." Joseph introduces himself.

The two men shake their hands. "Mr. Claremont. I'm Stephen Pym."

"I'm sorry, are everyone present here, family? Cause, I can't really leak patient's information with just anyone." The doctor says.

"They aren't family, but you can say it infront of them. This is David Richards, Janet's boyfriend. And he is Damian. David's brother." Joseph says quickly. "Now. How. Is. My. Sister?" He asks.

"Ow. So you're her boyfriend. I presume it was you, whose child she was pregnant with." The doctor now asks David.

"Yeah. That would be me. Now, how are they? How is she? How's my child?" David asks. His voice breaks at the end.

"Oh no, Mr. Richards. You didn't get me. You want me to say it then." The doctor mutters and then sighs.

"Your girlfriend is being shifted to a private ward, as we speak. She was lucky, that she probably saw the truck coming at them in full speed. Your bodyguard claims that she shifted towards the left side just in time. Or else, we would have lost her too." DI Burke says, as he walks towards the party.

"What do you mean too? Huh? What is that supposed to mean?" Damian asks in a calculated voice.

"You were the father, Mr. David. I'm sorry. She had a miscarriage before she was brought in here."

David takes in a massive breath, and then lets it out slowly. Everything fades away, as he takes a seat.

Joseph stands there numb as the doctor mutters a little, "My condolences. She's in room number 206." and leaves along with the detective inspector.

David's POV

Joseph and Damian left after being with her for about half an hour. She was conscious for a bit when they were in her room. But then, she fell asleep. Being on heavy medication, is making her feel dizzy.

I finally find the courage to walk into her room. He body, covered in bruises. Her usually strong frame, appears so frail and ready to break.

I walk towards the bed and take a seat on the stool beside it. Taking a hold of her hand and lean down to place a kiss on it.

"Baby." I whisper.

"I'm so sorry, Sweetie. You're going through all of this because of me." I say as tears well up in my eyes.

"That's not true." I hear her say.

Lift my eyes up to see her eyes slightly open.

"Love." I whisper and lean in to place a kiss on her lips.

"Are you feeling a bit better?" I ask on her lips.

"The pain killers have kicked in." She replies as I sit back.

"I couldn't ask this to Joseph and Ian. But how's the baby?" She asks. Her eyes glistening with hope.

I stare at her, without a word as a lone tear trickles down by eye.

"No." She croaks out.

"Baby."

"No. David, no." She breaks into soft sobs.

"Janie, its okay. Don't..don't cry." I says in between sobs.

"No. No no no no. It's not okay. How could you...how could.." she starts breathing heavily.

"..say that it's okay. It's not." She says as her eyes begin to close.

"Baby, you're tired. The medicines are making you dizzy."

"I don't care about that, David. I just lost my child. You wouldn't know.." she starts shaking.

I stand up and lean down to hug her lightly. I feel her push her head into my neck and cry even louder.

"Please don't cry, sweetheart. Jane. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault baby." I whisper.

"Joseph told me about the threat. It's not your fault, Bubba. It's our fate." She says once she stops crying.

"But, promise me we'll get back at them the first chance we get." She says with determined eyes.

"It's been investigated thoroughly as we speak. And if they think that they're gonna get away this time as well after killing my child, my heir. And trying to kill my girlfriend. They're fucking wrong. Because now I'm beyond pissed."
