David's POV

I regret all of it. I regret not showing up last evening. I regret being the bastard that I was to her today. But, my bitch of an ex-fiance that was seated in my office made me do it.

"That was quite the show." Alice says mockingly. "I didn't know you'd go to that extent for me, David. She must be a terrible fuck and now you want me back. Well lucky for you, I want you back too." She adds.

"Shut the fuck up, Alice. This is all your fault. And mind you, I will mend all the legal fuckery that you've thrown my way." I growled at the hardly dressed woman.

Damian barges into my cabin. He seems to have entered the office right now. "What. The. Fuck!" He growls, making Alice flinch.

I look at him, my gaze is that of a guilty person.

"What did you do, David? What did you say to her?" Damian asks accusingly.

"She stormed out of my office." I report gingerly.

"She's crying in her car. I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn't roll her window down, or open the door." Damian adds making me gulp at the situation.

"Brother, as you know, Alice here reported against us. Apparently her lawyer found some loophole in grandpa's agreement. Which supposedly makes her the owner of 50% of the Richards industries." I explain.

"As much as I want to go and talk to Jane, my company. Our company, is more important." I add.

Damian is about to say something, but I shut him with, "I'll fix it. I promise."

"You know, for a grown man and my BIG BROTHER." He said, flashing imaginary air quotes. "You're quite stupid." He adds.

I sigh and walk back to my chair. "How so?" I mutter.

"You do realise that you can fix our legal matters, after explaining it all to Jane." He waves his hands.

"You can, tell her the problems we're facing. She deserves closure, David. You're so stupid." Damian says as if he's talking to a five year old.

"If I may.." Alice tries say something, but both of us shout, "No!" and shut her up.

"Oh shut up, both of you." A new voice is heard.

"Mom?" Both I and Damian say at the same time.

"You hurt the girl, David." Mom scolds as she walks into my cabin. She runs her gaze over Alice and scrunches up her nose in disgust.

"Mother-in-law!" Alice shrieks. "I'm so happy to see you!" She adds.

"Mrs. Richards to you. I'm pretty sure you did this on purpose." Mom spits as she points around the room, indicating at the shit we're caught up in.

"Jane refused to see me. I wanted to explain it all. You can't blame me for all of it." I say. My voice soft and tired.

"I thought I raised you better. You dated her while you weren't out of the joke of an engagement you had with her." Mom says pointing carelessly towards Alice.

"I never had any problem with your decisions, son. Janet, for that matter is one of the best decisions you've ever taken. But, you dated her without telling her the truth of your prior engagement, making stuff complicated." Mom sits down at one of the chairs. Damian perches at my desk.

"And now, you should have told her truth. She is one of the first persons who deserved to know. You should have given her a call yesterday. Or a message perhaps. But, you didn't. You see, shit just went down." Mom explains.

I watch her intently and turn my gaze toward Damian. "You really told her all of it, huh?" I ask him. Why the fuck did he drag mom into this.

"Why shouldn't he? You know, I wouldn't have intervened if I didn't think it was necessary. Do not for a moment think, boy, that just because you're all grown up and shit, I won't scold you." Mom says as she gets up from the chair, before Damian could respond to my question.
