"Morning, Baby. Happy Birthday!" He says in his morning voice.
She walks up the platform and crouches down to David's level. Placing a small kiss on his lips, she mutters, "I'll go make some coffee."
"Why are you up so early?" David asks perching himself on his elbow. He looks at the clock and sees that it's just 6 am.
"Holy shit. It's just 6." He frowns. "Baby?" He says making Janet look at him. "Why?" David asks again.
Janet chews on her bottom lip, trying to decide on what to say next.
David sits up straight. He grabs her wrist and places her on his lap. "What on Earth happened, Jane? Is everything okay?"
"Something terrible happened this morning. I've been taking bad decisions lately." She replies making him furrow his brows.
"I was working on a major, major wedding for the past two months. It's really a high profile one. I hope you know the famous neurosurgeon Dr. Ivan Sokolov." Janet explains. David nods his head in a yes.
"He's getting married in two months. And, you know how it works, they approach multiple event houses ask them to prepare as to what they could offer."
"The meeting was supposed to be held this morning, but I received a very early morning phone call from my PA." Janet sighs.
"Apparently, Khan Group Of Event Management, has bagged the event even before the meeting. Mr. Sokolov has clearly stated that he is not going to see any other presentation. He will not be even there for the meeting. He'll go for what ever Huzaifa has planned." She explains as tears well up in her eyes
"Huzaifa?" David's brows furrow.
"The CEO of Khan Group Of Event Management. Huzaifa Khan. The ex who cheated on me." Janet says with venom in her voice.
"Okay. Babe, you know that's unethical and just not done." David says cautiously.
"There was no contract. Sokolov is not bound to look at my presentation. Apparently Zaifa invited him to dinner last night. Fed him some good Pakistani food, and made him sign the contract. I had a word with Sokolov this morning, he seemed very impressed." Janet adds standing up.
She steps off the platform and walks towards the door.
"Babe. Janet! Listen to me. You know things like these happen all the time. Do you want me to intervene? Take it in my hands? Cause sure as hell you ex stands no chance in front of me." David tries to explain to his upset girlfriend.
