David reaches the Claremont's penthouse. Just like him, Joseph was too not a fan of huge ass houses. Even he thought that they look lifeless.
Robyn opens the door for him. He smiles at the young woman and gives her a side hug.
"Hey, David. Where's Janet?" She asks.
"Hi, Sweetie. She..umm..well, we had a little argument. She's on her way." David replies to which, she smiles sheepishly as they walk into the living room where, Damian has the little baby in his arms, talking his usual nonsense; to which the kid is smiling in ecstasy. Joseph is stood just beside him, watching his son. A small smile, constant on his face.
"Jeez. You two argue a lot." Robyn comments. "I hope it's not as serious as the last time." She adds.
"Oh no. Nothing we can't talk out." David replies as he takes a seat. Robyn nods in understanding and walks towards the kitchen.
Worry is clear on his features. Which by the way does not escape Joseph and Damian's eyes.
"What's wrong?" Joseph asks, bringing David out of his trance.
"Huh? Oh nothing." David shakes his head.
"Oh don't do that." Damian snaps.
"Watch your fucking tone with me." David snaps back aggressively.
"Hey, don't you dare fucking curse infront of my boy!" Joseph snaps too.
"Boys, what the fuck. Stop cursing infront of Leo." Damian says nonchalantly.
All three of them look at Adrian, and then look at eachother.
They look at the baby once again and look at eachother's face once again. And finally, break into fits of laughter. They laugh out so loud, that Rachel and Robyn poke their head out of the kitchen to see if something's wrong. Once they realise, it is nothing, they go back inside.
"No but seriously. What happened?" Damian asks. This time seriously.
"A lot actually." David sighs and continues. "Janet and I got into an argument, because she was talking about something over the phone and I wasn't paying attention. And I wasn't paying attention because I got threatened today."
"What kind of threat?" Joseph asks with furrowed brows.
"An email. It said that the person wouldn't fail this time. I can't put my finger on it, but we have a murderer roaming about on our heads. Jane is not in a very safe position." David says.
"Did you inform the DI?" Damian asks.
"I did."
"Where's Janet? Why isn't she with you?" Joseph asks. Fear and worry settling down at the bottom of his stomach.
"She refused to come with me. And I don't want to stress her out with this. Not now atleast. She's coming with her bodyguard." He replies.
"What dyu mean not 'now'? Joseph asks picking onto the worry laced I'm his voice.
"Now. As in, now that we're arguing. And she's upset." He tries to cover up.
"I really hope it's just that, David." Joseph mutters in a low tone.
"Wait. What is that supposed to mean? Am I missing something?" Damian asks in confusion.
Before David could reply, Rachel and Robyn comes out of the kitchen, with trays full of drinks.
"What you're missing are these mimosas. They're wonderful!" Rachel exclaims.
"Baby, I hope you're not drinking those." Joseph says, as he walks up to his wife and takes the tray from her arms.
"Ofcourse not. It's for you lot." Rachel sighs and takes a seat beside David.
"So?" She Wiggles her brows at the man and asks, "Where's the girlfriend?"
"She's on her way."
"Well, then she's very late." She shakes her head.
They group engages in light conversations here and there. It's been quite sometime, but there's not sign of Janet yet.
"Where is she!" David mutters to himself as he fishes his phone out of his pocket. But before he could call someone, his phone rings.
"Oh. There." He says and recieves the phone.
"Where on earth are you at, Jeff?!" He asks as soon as he puts the phone to his ear.
The entire room watches the colour drain out of his face.
"What?" He whispers making all the heads turn towards himself.
"You..you got into an accident while my girlfriend was in the car with you?" His voice lowers even more.
"My pregnant girlfriend." He mutters as the phone slips out of his hand.
The entire room gasps.
Damian moves forward to support his brother as Joseph picks the phone up.
"Where is she?" He asks into the phone. "Stay with her. Make sure she gets immediate help. We're on our way." He barks into the phone and looks up to leave the room.
David dashes out of the penthouse and begins to climb down by the stairs.
"David!" Joseph calls.
"You can't get down faster than the elevator, brother." Damian mutters and pulls the huge man into the elevator.
"Joseph!" Rachel calls out.
"Baby, stay here with Leo and Robyn." Joseph shouts just before the elevator door closes.
