Two weeks later.
Location - G & S ; Janet's Office

"It is great to have you back, Miss." Jen says as Janet signs onto some documents.

"I feel a lot better too, Jen. Doing what I do best." Janet replies with a smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Miss. The others have left already." Jen smiles and leaves after receiving a nod.

She hands the folder back and grabs her cup of tea to take a sip. She had given up coffee during the time of her pregnancy. Now, resuming her normal intake of coffee might remind her of losing her baby. Which is why, she is still having tea to calm her nerves.

Her phone rings. It is Rachel.

"Hi. How's my nephew?" Janet asks taking another sip of her tea.

"Forget that. Check the news. Now!" Rachel exclaims.

"Okay. But, what is wrong? Did Chris Evans get married? Or worse! Did Sebastian Stan get married?! I swear to go-" Her rant stops mid way when she actually turns the channel to a news channel.

Nobody was getting married but, there was the same headline across all news channels.

"New York Socialite Alice Hemmingway Arrested For Attempted Murder Of Businesswoman Janet Claremont."

"Alice Hemmingway Charged And Arrested For Attempted Murder."

Janet's jaw drops as she hears the news reader speak. "Famous socialite, Alice Hemmingway has been arrested from the outskirts of the city. She is charged for hiring a hitman named Gabriel Gonzalez, infamously known as Garry, to kill Businesswoman and entrepreneur Janet Claremont. Sources report that Miss. Hemmingway did this out of jealousy. Miss. Claremont is now in a relationship with Businessman David Richards; he and Alice Hemmingway happen to be ex-fiances. Alice Hemmingway's rage and jealousy against her ex'es present girlfriend made her send Garry to kill her not once but twice. During the first attempt, Janet Claremont was out of the nation. And her maid's daughter got killed by mistake. The second attempt on her life was through a truck accident. Miss Claremont managed to save herself, but had a miscarriage, losing her and boyfriend David Richards' unborn child in the process. Alice Hemmingway labelled Janet Claremont as home wrecker and that Gabriel Gonzalez is lying. She claims to have no idea about it all. But, her bank statements say otherwise. It was indeed her who transferred a huge sum of money into the man's account. The only door left to unlock in the Hemmingway-Claremont-Richards fiasco is that, Alice Hemmingway has a partner in this. A man, the police is yet to track down. But, according to our sources, Alice Hemmingway has not yet disclosed his name."

With heavy breaths, Janet stumbles down into the couch. All of it was up there. All of it was up there for everyone to see. Her parents are going to be devastated.

Her phone rings.

"Hello?" She answers.

"Jane? Where are you?" David's voice floods in

"David. David, what is this? It is up on TV. Do you realise how my parents are going to react to this." She says amongst sobs.

"Baby, this was necessary. It was very necessary to destroy Alice's image.." He is cut off by her.

"No! You don't know! This is going to ruin MY image infront of my parents. We managed to hide everything from them. You knew my father is not very fond of this relationship. This just gave him an excuse." She screams.

"Shhh. Would you keep quite for a moment and listen to what I'm saying?" He replies back.

"This was required. It was needed to let that 'man' know that we're coming for him." He adds.

"You don't understand do you.. you just.."

"I don't have time for this right now, Janet. We're not having this conversation. Don't leave your office untill I come to pick you up. There are reporters stationed outside your building. I don't want you hurt. Okay? I have a meeting in five minutes. I'll see you soon, Sweetheart. I love you." He says and disconnects the call.

Janet breaks down in sobs. But, wipes her tears and gets back to her desk.

Around forty minutes later, a knock is heard at Janet's cabin's door, and makes her sit straight.

But then she's reminded of the security that is stationed downstairs; guarding all the possible entries and exits of the building.

"Come in!" Janet says, moving her gaze back towards the screen.

"You're early, David." She says moving her gaze towards the door. But instead of her boyfriend, there stood another man.

"Huzaifa, what are you doing here?" Janet asks in an annoyed voice.

"How is he better than me?" He asks as he steps into the room.

"What?!" She furrows her brows and then continues. "Because he doesn't have to ask this question to himself. Because he is better that everyone else out there. Because he respects our relationship." She starting listing out. "you want me to go on?"

"Because he loves and the respects me. Because he doesn't fucked his second cousin the day after he's fucked me. The list goes on Mr. Khan." She spits angrily.

"I can go on and on and on." She smirks as she sees him stepping nearer. Frustration, clear on his face.

"The first time when I caught you cheating, remember what I said, 'Respect me, Huzaifa. 'cause if you don't, some other man will' -- " she gets cut off, by his hands on her throat.

"How dare you, you whore. You broke up with me and got back with your life, as if there was nothing between the two of us." He growls, as he adds more and more pressure to her throat.

"I thought the man Alice has hired, will finish you off. But, couldn't the first time. The second time, I was furious when my men found out that you were pregnant with his child. Oh. How I wanted to tear you in halves. But, yet again, I trusted that bitch. But, not anymore. I'll end it. And I'll end it now." He continues to squeeze her neck.

He had cut off her oxygen flow.

Janet begins see see his face get out of focus gradually with time.

It is as if, her entire life flashes back in front of her in seconds. She is then reminded of her family and friends.

And most importantly, David's face flashes in front of her eyes. How devastated he would be if anything were to happen to her.

She didn't even reply to his last 'I love you.'
