Genius Number 3

July 6, 2010, 8 days past the due date.

Karina's POV

Today marks 8 days past their original due date. I've been at home trying to induce myself, by using a yoga ball, moving around a lot, eating spicy food, and most of the time resting and relaxing. Spencer's been at work, but he said that he was going to ask Hotch to take time off for me.

He had texted me saying that Hotch said yes, but he still had to work today. While I was at home, I was just relaxing, watching tv when I had this aching pain start to happen. I just waved it off cause I thought it was Braxton hicks, so I carried on with my day.

2:48 A.M.

I woke up feeling that same pain again, so I'm walked to the bathroom to keep myself from waking Spencer up. The pain was getting a bit worse and that's when I felt my water break, I was in a mix of emotions about what had just happened until the pain came back again. That's when I knew I was going into labor. I walked, as best as I could, to Spencer and woke him up.

"Spence, wake up, Spencer get up"

I kept on shaking him, but he wouldn't budge.

"Spencer get up now"

He was slowly starting to wake up and looked at me

"Get up, Spence"

"Why, what's going on?"

"My water just broke, I'm in labor, we need to go to the hospital now come on"

"Wait like now"

"Yes", I said as I was having a contraction

"Okay, okay, come on let's go to the car, and I'll come back with our stuff"

He walked me to the car, as fast as I could and with a few breaks. As I was sitting in the car, Spencer ran back into the house and grabbed our hospital bags and other things we needed. We left once he got in the car.

When we got to the hospital, the contractions were getting worse, luckily we were able to get a room quickly. The nurses tried to make me feel comfortable, they asked if I want an epidural, but I insisted on going all-natural. The nurse then checked to see how dilated I was.

"Okay, Mrs. Reid you are 5 cm dilated just try to relax, or if you want walk around."

"Okay"

She left the room, and Spencer asked,

"Do you want to get up and walk around?"

"Yeah, did you call Elena"

"Yeah, when I was loading the bags in the car."

"Okay, good"

Spencer and I walked around the hospital, the only time we stopped was when my contractions became worse and he rubbed my back. When we walked back to my room, Elena was there with Damon and Stefanie.

"Karina are you okay?"

"Yeah, just going through the feeling of my body being ripped open"

"Okay, let me check how dilated you are"

I laid back down on the bed and she checks

"Okay, Karina you are 10 cm dilated, which means the baby's coming."

"Now"

"yes I'll call my team and we'll get started, Spencer you wanna stay with her"

"Yes"

"Okay, I'll be back with my team and in different clothes."

"Okay"

After a few minutes of waiting, she and her team came back and we started.
