20. Even the Best Have Bad Days

The construction noises were louder once Minu and Marie walked outside and Marie flew ahead for a few meters before stopping. "Are you sure I can live with you now?" Minu laughed, gently patting her pixie's head. "You'll even come home with me; I'm not giving you away anymore. Why?"

Marie fidgeted with her small hands. "Well...if not then they probably build too few beds and then I have to sleep on the streets!"

"Or you go into the kitchen and take a nap in flour." Minu raised an eyebrow and Marie gasped, stemming her hands onto her hips. "That only happened once, I can't tell you anything!"

The fairy laughed and pulled Marie close to her, hugging her. "I wouldn't let you, you're a part of my life now!"

Marie pushed herself out of the embrace and chuckled. "I'll quickly fly and check out the situation, I'll be back in a minute!" Minu watched her fly off and hugged herself for a second before watching the specialists and fairies building a new little pixie village in the back of Alfea's campus close to the forest surrounding the fairy school. She was zoning out so she didn't notice a specialist walking up to her from the side.

"Minu, right? Like the princess, heh. Sorry, we haven't been talking too much on the vacation. But I thought since we might be in the same ally group, let's befriend each other more!"

Minu, startled by the sudden voice, smiled at her opposite. "Oh, hi! Yes...I hear that a lot – the-the princess thing. I know so many school friends who were named after her too. Sorry...your name was...Lyla?"

"Layna! I think you watched me on the second day when I practiced some archery." Layna chuckled and Minu held her forehead. "Oh, yes, sorry! You were amazing by the way, the way you just went very fast pew, pew, pew – you hit bullseye like thrice! I was amazed! I'm upset that I had to leave so early, my...my parents' house was attacked by rioters, that's why I had to leave so abruptly. It's a tough time for us."

The specialist, still a hammer in her hand, nodded. She wanted to respond but Marie already came back flying their way and smiled at Layna. "Are you one of the specialists helping? You're doing an amazing job! You're so fast – you won't need to build a little bed and house for me though, I'll be staying with Minu."

Layna's eyes sparkled. "Oh, you bonded! Since when? And I could show Minu a little what we're building." She motioned them to follow her and Minu nodded. "Just around five days ago, not too long ago. She helped me with a little panic attack."

"The love to a person's heart is through their stomach!" Marie proudly chirped and Layna laughed, looking at Minu, then back at Marie. "You two are the cutest! Oh, I'm Layna, by the way."

They got to the little construction site and Layna softly squeezed Minu's shoulder. "If you want you can look at them in detail. Since we already have around twelve reported pixies bonding and not needing the extra beds and houses anymore, these can be placed anywhere and also moved around or taken away from the temporary pixie pillage. There's been a lot of damage done to the original village so they'll have to stay here for a little longer now."

"Layna! We need your help over here!" a young male specialist called out and Layna almost unnoticeably winked at Minu. "Okay, see you around, gotta help the boys!"

They waved after Layna and Marie slowly turned towards her fairy again. "Sooo...that was heavy flirting."

"What?" Minu blinked and Marie chuckled. "You didn't- you didn't notice? She was really flirting with you! All this winking and touching, I think she got it bad for you."

"What do you mean?!" Minu's eyes almost bulged out of her eye sockets and blinked in confusion. Despite her being the princess, no one really batted their eyes at her in this way – well, she hadn't met too many boys or girls before that weren't family to begin with. The little attention felt good – and it wasn't the kind of attention she got from people knowing she was a princess so they'd be extra attentive and nice.
