“Tell me again, my love, why did we decide to send our boys to another land,” I ask.
“Because, my dear, we wanted them to have their best chance. I have seen the future, and you know this, Fili and Kili will return one day and take over the kingdom. Just be patient,” Arela tells me, for the hundredth time since Fili and Kili left. I miss their laughs, sword fighting, and of course our adventures together as a family.
“Patience has never been a strong suit of mine, but you know I’ve been working on it. I’ve been trying to think about the kingdom and how to protect it, in case of another attack of some kind. What else do you see in the future,” I ask.
“All I have seen is that our boys will return, and not alone,” Arela says.
“What do you mean ‘not alone’? Do you mean that they will bring an army with them,” I ask, confused.
“No. They are bringing someone with them. All I know is that Fili and Kili will each have a woman on their arm. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about. I look forward to seeing them, all of them,” Arela says.
“Oh. Good,” I say, not really knowing what to say.
Arela laughs. I smile and give her a kiss.
“Where would I be without you, my queen,” I ask.
“Dead. Sick with Dragon Sickness. Who knows, maybe even in your father’s jail cell. With you, I am complete. You helped me and not one of my men in the company died during that battle. I would be lost without you,” I tell her, answering my own question.
She nods and smiles. “Or worse, but I would be lost without you. I love you,” She says.
“I love you, too,” I say, with a loving smirk on my face.
