"I uh... see ya!" I squeaked and quickly ran away.Fug. Fug. Fug.
I ducked out of the restaurant and walked to my brother's car. I've never walked this fast in my entire life and I'm the slowest walker out there. Ever.
I realized that my brother had the keys to the car and groaned loudly.
Damn. I saw my crush back there.
Like the one I really like. The guy with the bandanna. Ezekiel Knight. The one I'd die to talk with if only he wasn't looking right at me.
Yes that's my problem.
Looking at him. No no.
Him looking at my uglyass face.
Yep.
Makes me want to lose a few pounds. 'Cause of double chin and all that.
Bottom line is, I look ugly A F.
And him?
Waaaay out of my league.
I felt something fall on my shoulder.
Fuuuug.
"Ahh fug what the-"
"Um, hey this fell from your bag."
Zeke!
I took a moment to study him from top to bottom.
The bandanna, pine green eyes, dark curly hair-
"Ahem."
He cleared his throat.
I blinked once. Twice. Thrice.
"I believe this is yours."
He thrusted a packet into my hand and began waking away, his back towards me.
Reality hit me like a train--so hard I almost collapsed.
I looked down at my hand.
A condom packet!
I then realized I was carrying my brother's bag.
"Ugh!" I sighed and groaned at the same time making a full one-eighty, wanting to bury myself.
"Dude, you okay?" I heard Aryan's voice.
"Aryan you fickle stick!"
I yell.
"Who you calling fickle stick, have you seen these muscles?" He began flexing.
I hit him hard.
On the forehead.
He fell down clutching his head.
"Dude, what the fuck?! Chill, damn." He got back up rubbing at his forehead, making me feel bad for a millisecond before he smacked me on the head.
"Ew, do you know what just happened?" I asked throwing the condom packet at him.
"What you crazy woman?!" He snapped.
"I saw my crush! And a goddamn condom packet fell from your stupid bag!"
Aryan looked at me for a while.
He bit his lips trying to stop himself from laughing, but his shoulders were already shaking heavily.
I could feel my eyes getting moist.
"Why are you crying though?" He laughed, giving me a bear-hug.
"I just feel so embarrassed. He came outside to give me that condom." I began crying.
He chuckled and pulled away, ruffling my hair.
"Plus he saw my ugly face, and I wonder what he thinks about me right now." I sniffed. "I bet they're all having a good laugh at me."
"He probably couldn't see your face properly, it's quite dark here." Aryan mused.
"You're not even denying it! I look ugly." I yell, punching him.
"Aw no no no I was just joking." Aryan hugged me once again. "Hey, Sai, look at me." He held my face. "You look beautiful alright, you don't need anyone's validation. Especially not from someone you like. Now let's go in there and get some food, I'm very hungry and I'm pretty sure you are too."
I sniffed and nodded, hugging him sideways.
"Thanks. Sorry for hitting you. Even though you deserved it." I muttered and pulled away.
"Yeah yeah whatever now give me that bag and wipe your face." Aryan said and grabbed his bag from me, zipping up all the sections, not before picking up the condom from the ground.
I pulled up my hood over my head and made myself comfortable.
"What are we getting?" I asked, squeezing my own hand.
"What do you want?" Aryan asked, fussing over his wallet.
"That combo number four." I pointed to the menu display.
"M'kay, how about you find a place to sit in the mean time? It's looking very busy. We'll just order it as take-away."
I nodded and looked around to find a table, but there was none except the one behind Zeke and his group of friends.
I sat down quietly and laid my head on the table, facing the window.
Zeke's table was very noisy. They were all laughing loudly about something.
"Damn, she did that?" One of them asked.
"Yeah, and she accidentally dropped a condom packet." I heard my crush say.
Shit. They're talking about me.
I sighed.
"Yeah, it seems she is Alvar's sister. Sarya was her name?"
"Saira. I didn't know Alvar had a sister in the first place. So surprising."
"I don't like her attitude. Got defensive all of a sudden. Acted like a bitch." One of the girls--Sierra Stevens--spoke up.
"I know right." Another girl said.
I could feel my eyes becoming moist.
I hate that about myself. I cry when I'm really angry.
I stood up slowly, tuning out everything else they had to say about me.
I heard my brother yell my name just as I was about to make a quiet exit.
"Saira! Let's go!"
The table behind me fell silent.
I sighed as Aryan neared my table.
"Take this to the car, I'll see the boys and join you." Aryan handed me the car key and the take-away.
I nodded slowly and left the restaurant quickly and locked myself inside the car.
People can be quick to judge you these days, influencing other people in the process. It's true that I like Zeke, but definitely less than I did half an hour ago for whatever reason.
Maybe it's for the best if this crush just fades away.
I can just maintain my lowkey and boring life, graduate, get into a college, work somewhere or start something new. Maybe open a bakery. Just the simple life things with no drama.
But this is high school.
Things will happen no matter how much you don't want them to. I've read enough books and seen enough movies to know that. But experiencing it first hand is so new and strange.
I looked at the bag of take-away and grinned.
I have a crush on Zeke, but I'm in love with food.
No one can beat that.
