Chapter 3

Chapter 3: The Truth Is...

-Chase-
I still can't get what happened last night out of my head. I decided I'd go for a morning jog. I put in my headphones and head down to the park and jog around the area. After an hour I head back to the dorm. I sit at the kitchen table, still unable to get my thought out of my head. Could I really like Luke?

Luke comes out of his room and my ears perk up. "Hey, buddy. Sleep well?" I ask.

"As well as I could," he laughed, "I'm still tired."

"You want something for breakfast? I could make some eggs."

"No, you sit. I'll make them. I'm already up as it is."

I let him make the eggs. He is actually a really good cook. "Damn, dude. These had to be the best eggs I've ever had."

His tail wags. "Thanks, dude. Hey shouldn't you be heading out to meet Stacy before your class?"

"You're right! Gotta go!" Without thinking, I kissed the top of his forehead, and bolted out the door.

-Luke-
I blushed as he bolted out the door to go meet Stacy. He kissed my forehead. I don't know how to react to that. I could tell he didn't think twice about it.

Anyway, I get ready for my chemistry class. Ugh, I'm still thinking about this morning. This is gonna be so distracting. Could he have feelings for me? Damn it, focus Luke. All he did was kiss your forehead.

Kristina walks up to me. "Hey, Luke."

"Hey. Can I ask for your opinion?"

"Sure. What about?"

"Chase kissed my forehead this morning and I'm trying to figure out if it means anything."

"Ok. First off, awwww. Anyways, what happened afterwards?"

"He went to meet up with Stacy."

"To me, it sounds like he wasn't thinking straight. I think he does have feelings for you and hiding them causes him to show it when he isn't thinking."

"I hope you're right. I'm still gonna be there for him for everything that happens, but he has no idea how much it hurts not being with him."

"Well, he kissed your head. He does care about you for sure. Be open and honest with him. After all, being honest can help lead to less heartache."

"True. let's head to chemistry. We are gonna be late."

We made it just before the bell rang. we took our seats and Mr. Wright proceeded to finish teaching the chapter.

Why am I forgetting that today is Wednesday? We've got review today and a quiz tomorrow. I gotta focus. I can't go and bomb my first quiz.

I write down all the notes I need to study and help do the review. After class, Kristina and I went our separate ways. I decided I'd head out to eat, so I went to McDonalds.

When I got there, I found Chase crying at one of the tables.

"Hey, buddy. You doing all right?"

Chase looked up. "Yeah, yeah I'll be fine. It's really nothing to worry about."

"Ok how about I get you some lunch and you head back to the dorm. You can tell me what happened there."

"You don't have to..."

"No," I interrupt, "I insist."

I went up and got Chase and I lunch. We sat down and ate. "Thank you," Chase said, "You've been so nice to me. I really appreciate it."
