Chapter 24: Luke's Past
-Kristina-
Well, Simba told me that you all know about Chase, and why Simba wants to protect Luke for him. I feel I might as well explain why I'm like Luke's personal bodyguard. We were in middle school. Luke hit that age to where you start to question who you are, and your purpose in this world. I wasn't around him much at the time, but we were next door neighbors, and we would ride the bus together.
It was funny. My parents thought Luke and I were dating and they wanted me to stay away from him. What do I do? The exact opposite. I invite him over a lot, just to piss my parents off.
Eventually, I told them I had no interest in dating him and somehow, I knew he had no interest in dating me. You think this would offend me, but I'm not one of those prissy girls. I'm more of a tomboy kind of gal. I love going outside and exploring a bit.
Anyways, Luke came to me for advice and I would help him. One day, in particular, intrigued me the most. I'll remember this day like it was yesterday.
It was about halfway through our 8th grade year. Saturday, January 27th. It was also memorable because it was snowing, a rarity in South Carolina.
Luke was over at my house and we were playing in the snow. We were kids, what else would we be doing on a snowy day?
We were just going inside because I was soaked. Unfortunately for me, my fur adapts to the climate, so as you may guess, I had thick fur, unlike Luke. I had to take a really warm shower.
After I got dressed. There was a knock at my door. I knew who it was.
"Come in, Luke."
"H-how did you..."
"You're the only one who knocks."
Man, this kid was so nervous for some reason. Something was on his mind, that's for damn sure.
"C-can I talk to you about something. You are the only one I can trust."
I scoot down and patted the bed, signaling him to sit next to me. "Yeah, you can trust me."
He sat down next to me. "Please don't hate me."
"Why would I hate you?"
"I-I think I might be gay."
I sat there, shocked. I was at a loss of words. I mean, how would you feel if your best friend came out of the closet to you.
"I support you, bro, but are you sure? I mean, how did you find out?"
"Well, you know Brandon?"
"That guy I have a crush on?"
"Yeah, turns out, I like him."
Little did I know that Brandon would cause his downfall. But anyways, Brandon was the hottest guy in school. He made other guys jealous, and that's hard to do. Every girl had a crush on him, me being no exception. Yeah, he was cute, and that's all that was needed.
"Yeah, sorry," Luke said, with his ears down and sorrow in his eyes.
"No, no it's cool. I just... Well I did have my suspicions. Sorry but I kinda saw this coming." I'm not lying when I saw that coming. He never told me about crushing on a girl, and he tells me everything.
"So you don't mind me being gay?"
"Hell no, man. You can love who you want to love. I'll accept you, no matter who you are. You've been a good friend to me. Come on, I know my parents will accept you, let's tell them."
