Chapter 26: College Gameday
(To kick off college football week. This chapter will take place for one of Chases games. I'm sorry if you don't like the sport, I'll be writing about more than just that. So kick back, enjoy the chapter, and feel free to comment.)
-A Few Weeks Later. Luke-
This was one of those days where Chase couldn't stay with me. He already headed to the stadium to prepare for the game. He is back in action and everyone was happy to have him back. Of course, they only want him for his skills. Chase had a week to learn all of the new plays coach had put in for today's game. I hope it works well.I got up, about an hour before the game, and checked the side of my bed. There's a sideline pass and with it, a note.
Hey babe,
As much as I would have loved to watch you wake up snuggled against me, I'm afraid I had to leave early. But, hopefully, you can make it to the game. I got a sideline pass for you to come out and watch me from the best spot of the stadium. I would be extremely happy if you could make it. You'll be on my mind as I score those touchdowns and lead our school to victory. Also, if you can make it, I have a special surprise for you. With love,
Chase. He even added his own little fancy signature to the end of it. Damn, all that effort, why not just wake me up? I chuckle at that thought. Chase would rather let me rest, then have me awake and cranky. That's why I love him. He's so caring.
Now I'm curious. What's the surprise? That's makes me want to go even more. I mean, who doesn't love surprises?
After about thirty minutes of getting ready and leaving. I arrive at the stadium. I showed security my sideline pass and one of them led me to where I needed to be. I got there just as they finished warming up. They went back to the locker room. I assume the coach is gonna give them a pep talk or something.
Then, all of a sudden, the stadium goes silent. A drumroll plays and I see Chase up on the video board.
"I'm back, and I'm out for blood. Let's go Wolverines."
I look over to where they went earlier. There's a smokescreen and I see players running out onto the field led by the flag carriers that spell out "Wolverines," making the crowd cheer. The band plays and the players seem energized and honestly, so do I for some odd reason. The players jog onto the sideline and some of them notice who I am and ruffle my hair.
As I wait for the game to start, I see Chase out in the middle of the field and the crowed erupts in applause and cheering. Chase waves to the crowd and waits for it to die down.
"Wow, what a crowd we have today. I wanted to take the time to ask a very special fur a special question. Luke, are you here, bud?" A few of his teammates pick me up and put me on their shoulder-pads. Chase smiles when am he sees me. "Let me tell you about this kid. He's been through hell just about every day of his life, but he has the strength to live on the next day. That kid is tougher than I am. But, that kid is more than that to me. I'm proud to say that I love him to the ends of the universe, so Larry, James, can you bring him over here?" Larry and James carry me to midfield, where Chase is, and puts me down. Chase kneels down and holds out a white rose, my favorite rose. "Luke, would you come to the homecoming dance with me?"
I'm speechless. I start tearing up, blushing wildly. All I do is nod and once that happens, the crowd and his teammates applaud. I take his rose and kiss him. Chase then takes my paw and we jog back to the sideline. The teammates cheer. Chase and another guy then heads out to midfield for the coin toss.
The official explains how it works. Chase chose heads and we won the coin toss. He was given two option, to kick or receive and he chose to kick, so we could get the ball in the second half.
