Mia was back home and everything seemed to be alright. Greta bailed her out, and everything seemed to be okay. At least for a little while. Looking around the place brought back memories, memories she was not ready to forget.

Todd had made pasta once, and they ate together. Donald was with them, and for once she thought she had a new family, of her own.

Sighing, she sat on the leather couch. That was long gone. The week had turned her world upside down. She finds out that Todd, her goddamn fiancé, cheated on her. Her cousin Lauren torments her, and she is charged with murder. She didn't kill him, although she has to admit she wanted to.

Her head was a mess.

Greta's conscious was clear. It wasn't weighing her down anymore. She had done what she should have done in the first place. How could she have left her daughter suffering for so long? She was stupid, stupid for listening to her brother. She won't let that happen again.

Mia had lost so much weight, her mother had only seen her that way once, and that was when Henrico had cheated on her. Mia was devastated, but Greta knew that Mia would never kill him. Greta raised her, she knows Mia well.

She figured that Mia hadn't eaten in days, so she prepared her a sandwich. She wouldn't forgive herself if something happened to Mia, she just wouldn't handle it.

She placed it in front of Mia, whose face pinched in a scowl. “I'm not hungry." she said, turning her face to the side, looking out the window. Greta sighed in defeat.

She made her way to the kitchen, taking the plate with her, and gently placing it on the sink.

Mia was still disappointed. A lot of people she thought she could trust, backstabbed her. Lauren, her rival, visited her of all people. She didn't have anything pleasant to say, but she still did. Her family, even her own mother left her, in the time she was in need.

Pure disappointment.

The phone rang, but she didn't bother getting up. Greta rushed towards it, picking it up, “Hello?"

Mia stared out the window, thinking of how catastrophic her life has just become. She needed a lot of strength to keep going. She needed God on her side, and most importantly, she needed-

“Mia!" Greta ran towards her, “Mia, they found out. They found out who the killer is!"

Mia was out the door before she knew it.

Todd knew what he had to do. He would not allow another life ruined, especially of the woman he loved. He had done wrong, he knew that. Cheating again, when she had already given him a chance. Stupid, he thought. Completely stupid.

He never had a good imagination, now that he was half-drunk, it was completely gone. In reality, his idea was crazy.

He wasn't thinking it through, he just wanted to relieve her. It didn't matter how long he'd have to stay there, he would. He didn't even need a lawyer, the information he had would be enough.

So he pressed the pen on the paper, and wrote. He scribbled away, let his little imagination flow. When he was done, he proofread it. Yes, it was a convincing story.

He placed it in an envelope and put a stamp on it. Hiding it in his pocket, he put on some shoes and a hoodie over his head. He grabbed his car keys, and before he left, took a good look at his apartment. He would miss this place.

As he turned to leave, he bumped into Donald, who stared at him with an expressionless face. “Going somewhere?"

“Yeah." was all Todd said.

“You sure? Because the last time you said you were 'okay', you were having a breakdown, and not a mini one." Donald mocked.

“I'm fine."

“Suit yourself." Donald walked over to the fridge, grabbed the carton of milk and drank directly from it. Wiping the mil from his face, he landed on the couch after a glorious jump and grabbed the remote.

Todd chuckled lightly, he would miss this kid.

He walked out the door without another word.

Hasta la vista.

Mia barged through the doors, heading directly to the secretary. “I'd like to speak to the sheriff, please."

“Madame, calm down." the secretary calmly said.

“I have to speak with him, now!" Mia was screaming now. The woman could not do much, and Mia was now impatient.

“Calm down, Mia." Greta said. Mia sighed heavily. She couldn't believe what Greta had told her minutes ago, it was too hard to believe, too good to be true.

When the sheriff was finally clear and ready to see them, Mia barged in his office, asking him, “Who did it!?"

“Miss Santiago, you have to maintain calm." the sheriff said.

“Calm down? I was being accused of a crime I had not committed, how can I maintain calm?" she boomed.

“Miss, take a seat." he gestured to the empty seat across him. She sat, and looked at him expectantly.

“Miss Santiago, I have good news and bad news. Now, the good news is that you are free to go, no more charges pressed against you."

“Go on." she pushed.

“The bad news is that...the guilty one, has made a deal with us. Now please don't have a cow," he said as Mia stood, ready to confront him, “The guilty one has asked us to maintain his confession a secret."

“What?" she said.

“Sorry ma'am, strictly confidential."

“This is crazy!" she exclaimed.

“I am sorry, but you have to-"

“No! I won't let this happen, I won't let you do this to me. I have to know, I have the right to know!" she screamed. Eventually she was dragged out by cops and Greta ended up driving her home.

She was incredibly pissed. She didn't even know that such...laws existed. That made no sense. She allowed herself to cry, for once. The stress was killing her, she had to let it go.

Henrico's death would forever remain a mystery.
